As I'm writing this post I am at home today because school was canceled due to ice. I always love an unexpected day off from work (as long as everyone is healthy & safe of course!). I got up this morning and was getting ready to go to the office when I got the text. I promptly told my husband school was canceled so he wouldn't wonder why I was retreating back under the warm covers. 😊
But now that I am up and around I decided that with all the dreary and cold days of late I needed some color and a hint of Spring to come! So it's not too early to share a card with bright flowers right?

First off, that background...one of my favorites!! And in black and white it makes everything pop! It's the Angled Squares Background stamp from Catherine Pooler. I have used this with lots of different colors and even in multiple colors on one card and it never disappoints! It is so versatile! For the focal part of my card, I die cut the tag with the Tags, Etc dies from Midnight cardstock and then embossed the sentiment in white from the Rose Garden stamp set. I added stripes of colored cardstock choosing colors that would coordinate with the flowers. I popped the entire tag up with dimensional tape.
I stamped lots of those gorgeous flowers from the Rose Garden stamp set in all kinds of colors to add around the tag. I popped a few of them up with dimensional tape & adhered the others directly to the tag. I also added a little shimmer in some of the centers with a glitter pen. The ink color combos I used are:
Orange: Tiki Torch & Tutti Frutti
Pink: Be Mine & Party Dress
Purple: Flirty Fuchsia & Grape Crush
Yellow: Shea Butter & Sauna
Blue: Fiesta Blue & Something Borrowed
Center of flowers: Icing on the Cake & Over Coffee; Limoncello
Leaves: Garden Party, Lime Rickey & Eucalyptus
(For a list of ink colors for layering be sure to check out my Catherine Pooler ink layering guide from this post.)
Thank you for joining me and helping me bring some Spring to this cold, wintry day here in Kansas! Have a wonderful day!
