Lots and lots of polka dots!

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today!  I'd love to hear what you think about this color combination and card.  Are you a polka dot lover like I am or does this put you over the edge? LOL!

Have a great day!

Button Rings Now For Sale

Many of you have asked about my button rings!  I have finally uploaded to a new page on my blog some of the rings that I've made.  I LOVE to make rings from buttons and am so happy to be able to share them with you!  ETA:  I've also opened an Etsy shop which can find here:  Jen's Ink Spot on Etsy which will list current buttons for sale.

If you know your ring size and the colors of buttons you'd like, I can custom make a ring just for you! Most of my rings are made with 18 gauge silver-plated wire. I also have wire which is a brass color. All wire is non-tarnish.

Ring Size: If you are unsure of what size of ring you need, here is a PDF file that contains several different ways to measure your finger and/or current rings.

Color: Do you have a favorite color? Are you looking for a ring made with Papertrey Ink colors? Or, maybe you would like a ring that can be worn with most anything. Or, how about a ring in your school's colors?  Let me know what you're looking for and I'll see if we can make a ring just like you have envisioned!

Cost: Most rings are $11 each while I am starting out, plus shipping. Certain buttons and beads would cost a little more depending on what is chosen.  I accept Paypal as a form of payment.

Below are some of the rings I have recently made and you can see even more of them by clicking on the "Button Rings for Sale" tab at the top of my blog (you can always find them there!). Most of these are my personal rings that I am currently wearing. Depending on button availability, many of these can be similarly duplicated but some are one-of-a-kind buttons.  You can always see what I currently have for sale by visiting my Etsy shop.

June PTI Blog Hop: COLOR

Welcome to another Papertrey Ink blog hop!

"This month we thought it would be fun to focus on COLOR! We want to see your favorite Papertrey color schemes put to work. Be sure to post the color scheme near the top of your post in bold letters so everyone can collect them to use as a future reference! With everyone's different takes on combinations from the Papertrey spectrum, we will surely build an amazing resource that we can all utilize and fall in love with some new favorite color schemes!"

My color scheme for the first card was:

This has always been one of my favorite color combos ever!! I just love these colors together!  Here's the card:

In case you can't tell, the center is popped up on the flower.

And, I decided to do one more card but this time I added an additional color to the mix to change it up just slightly.

And here's that card:

Still working on my copic coloring skills.  Well, skills is a BIG word.  I really can't claim that I have copic skills yet, but I am having fun practicing.  I'll hopefully get it one of these days!

Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge #9

This week's Papertrey Paper Dolls challenge was issued by Katie.  She challenged us to create a card using one of the very first PTI stamp sets that we ever bought.  My very first PTI set was Polka Dot Basics but since I still use it ALL the time, I tried to remember what I bought next.  I am pretty sure it was the "Teacher's Apple" set.  This one is a classic.  There are so many options with it and it can be used for more than just teacher's cards and gifts.

This is my simple, simple card.  I stamped the apples in Sweet Blush and then used my Pebbles Shimmer Chalks (I haven't used those in a really long time!!) to add some shading.

Supplies (all PTI unless noted)
Stamps: Teacher's Apple, Fillable Frames 5, Library Ledger
Paper: Library Ledger Paper Pack, Chocolate Brown, Aqua Mist
Ink: Sweet Blush, Dark Chocolate, Champagne VersaMark, Tea Dye Duo, Aqua Mist
Other: Pebbles Shimmer Chalk, Ribbon, Fiskars Upper Crest Border Punch

Hello Sunshine!

Hi everyone!! I really liked this PTI "All About You" set and as I started using it sunflowers just called out to me.  I LOVE sunflowers!  Being from Kansas we see them in the fields planted as crops (BEAUTIFUL!!) and we see them in the ditches as wildflowers a lot.  I use to collect sunflower trinkets in college but don't do that anymore.  But, they are still dear to my heart.  Sunflowers were even the main flowers at my wedding! :)

Anyway, enough about that and on to the card...

I really liked this color combination of Spring Moss, Lemon Tart & Pure Poppy.  The touch of red just sort of highlights the rest of the card.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Hope you enjoyed this card!

Happy Mail Day!!

This is my 2nd post today.  Please scroll down to see the card I posted in a earlier blog post.  Thanks!! :)

This is just a post for fun!! I am so excited I just had to share with you!!

First, my husband came home with the mail and there was a LARGE priority mail box for me.  He was wondering what I had ordered now...I honestly had no idea!!  What could it be in such a huge box?

Then I saw the return label and I gasped!!  Here's what I found when I opened the box:

SEVEN PTI stamp sets (Rustic Branches, Simple Alpha, Holiday Wishes, and Borders/Corners - Circles, Rectangles, Oval and Squares) & FIVE pads (only one of them even opened!!) of PTI 6x6 patterned paper packs (Guide Lines, Everyday Blessings, Bitty Baby Blessings, Father Knows Best & Pink Patterns)!!  My friend Mary is getting out of stamping (which is so sad because she is one TALENTED stamper and I have always been a huge fan of hers!!) and she wanted to know if I wanted some PTI stamp sets she had...for free!!  Uh, yes!! Definitely!! :)  But, she was even way more generous than that!! This box was stuffed!! Here's what else was inside:

...rolls of ribbon, boxes of ribbon, hardware, brads, K & Co Patterned paper, stickers & an album & a Copic video.

It was almost like she read my mind!! I mean, here I was just hours before I received this package trying to find videos on YouTube about how to use my Copic Sketch markers.  I had NO IDEA she was sending this to me...NO CLUE!!!  And, what's even funnier is that I had just looked at this video yesterday at Hobby Lobby and thought that I might have to purchase it sometime and here it showed up at my door unexpectedly!!  COOL!!!

Thank you SO MUCH Mary!! This was truly like Christmas!  I LOVE everything so much!!

AND...if that wasn't enough I got another surprise too!  I mean this stuff just doesn't usually happen to me and now twice in one day!!

A few hours after that, my husband brought something else home to me.  A sweet lady from our church had brought this by for me...

What in the world is in there?  Well, when I opened it up...I was doing a happy dance!! :)

BUTTONS!!! Three containers FILLED with buttons!!  OLD buttons!!  WOW!!  Seriously, this is MY day for some reason!! :)

These cans of buttons came from a senior lady from our church who was at an auction and saw these and thought of me. Ahhh!! We had just had a conversation a few weeks ago about how I like to make button rings and use buttons on my cards, in my scrapbooks and in other misc crafts. Wasn't that such a sweet thing for her to do!? One day soon I'll try to upload some pictures of my button rings for you to see!

Here's a few that I quickly picked out as I was looking through the jars.  LOVE!!  As I went through these jars I just kept wondering where these buttons had come from and what their story was.  Was the lady who had owned these a seamstress or just a collector of buttons?  I wonder what others will think of my button collection when I'm gone.  What stories will they come up with about their previous owner?  Who will they imagine that I was and why I had so many buttons (as my collection grows)?  I only hope that they will enjoy my buttons as much as I have.

Thank you Mary & Velma!!   Your generosity means the world to me!!  What a fun & exciting day you've given me!

And thank you to my blog readers  for stopping by my blog again today and for allowing me to share my excitement with you!!

First (not so good) Attempt at Copics

Well, I finally bit the bug and got some copic markers.  I said I never would.  I don't really enjoy coloring a lot.  I mean, I like to do it, but it takes so much time so I don't do it very often.  But, on our Stamping Away weekend, Amy & Laurie really wanted to do a make & take at a scrapbook store and for the first time EVER, I used copic markers.  I shouldn't have.  I liked the way they felt.  I liked the way they moved on the paper.  So...I decided to get a few to try them out.  I'm not going to invest in a lot of colors right now, just a few trio sets so I can decide if I like them...and if I'll use them.

I have no idea what I'm doing.  I plan to watch some videos today about how to use them, about how to make them blend.  Mine aren't blending even when I work with it wet, but I know it is not the markers fault...yep, all user error.  But, I did make a card.  Please ignore all the spots I went out of the lines, and how very, very harsh my lines are!! :)

This was for a wedding and I found an appropriate sentiment in the PTI set Heartfelt Basics.   This set is so great for LOTS of occasions.  I've used it quite a bit!

Well, like I said, I need to learn how to use copics, but it was a first attempt! :)  Thanks for stopping by!!  Have a wonderful day!
