Spring anyone?

I have a fun card to share today!  Frantic Stamper has come out with some great new dies that you can use to make pop-up cards with and as soon as I got them I went to work making a card!  It looks a little simple on the outside, but wait until you see what happens when I open it up!  Since I am SO ready for Spring, I went a little pastel & floral with this one!

First things first...the outside.  I love this new die also from Frantic Stamper called Thanks Card Band.  When I first saw this die a few months ago I knew I really wanted it in my collection!  It makes such a quick & easy card front and will get a lot of use!

The die cuts directly into your card front.  I added some pink cardstock stripes for visual interest. 

Now, when you open the card up, this is what you find:

 I'm going to make a video soon to show exactly how these dies work and how I put a similar card together, but I think you'll want to add these dies to your collection!  

Pop Up Bases

This is what the die set looks like.  You can see that there are a lot of options for using them.  The rectangle ones are what I've used for this pop up card. 

Here's what the card looks like from the side.  I used the largest rectangle die for this card.  The die basically cuts away part of the cardstock so that you can attach whatever you'd like on it to pop out. It also scores lines for your fold and for the folds in the cardstock for your popped out pieces.  For my card I attached the mason jar with lilacs.

In the video that I'll be sharing soon, I'll show you how to recreate this mason jar and how to attach the flowers.  In this jar I've placed 2 colors of white lilacs from the new Mix N Match Lilacs die set along with the lilac leaves.  I really love the details that the dies give!  And, I like that there are "extra" flowers to place on the lilacs to give them lots of dimension!  You can also see the Mix N Match Floral Stems through the center heart of the jar.  These stems are so cool in that you purchase them separately and then can mix and match lots of different flowers to them!  I bet they'd even work with some flower dies you already own!

Hey Hot Stuff!

Hello!  Welcome to another edition of the ShowCASe Your Style Challenge!  Today we are working with a sketch that I just happened to sketch.  Yep, first time doing that!  I hope you'll choose to play along!

For my card today, I used a new stamp set called Get Well Soon & also the coordinating dies, Get Well die set.  I chose four colors of ink for the thermometer and then in the last one added a coordinating enamel dot.  The sentiment is also from the Get Well Soon stamp set. I like that the sentiments in this set make it versatile for more than just get well cards!

To create the border at the bottom of the card, I used one of the dies from the Stitched Border Die trio set.  I punched a hole under the "hot" sentiment and then tied my ribbon through that.  I like that there is a small little extra there that didn't need to continue down the whole card front.

I think that this Perfect Pairs stamp set is so adorable!  I love that the images are small and easy to color.  If you follow me, you know that coloring isn't my "thing".  It's just not a strong area for me.  But, these images are the perfect size for a non-colorer like myself and I found myself ENJOYING coloring them!  Wow!! Didn't think I'd say that!  I stamped many of the images from the set onto the background of my cardstock and then inked the edges (this, by the way, looks so much better in real life, but I had a hard time capturing it on the camera without it looking splotchy and dark in areas).

I stamped the images onto a piece of cardstock that I diecut using the cool Stitched Mats: Side Stitched Rectangles.  I used my copics to color the images and then highlighted certain areas with my souffle gel pens (like the cheeks and the sprinkles).  The sentiment is stamped from the Perfect Pairs stamp set as well.

I'm entering this card over at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge.  The challenge this week was to be inspired by the letter "h".  My "h" is for "holding hands" (or it could be "hot" coffee too since I tend to love a little Starbucks here and there).

Perfect Pairs

Hey everyone!  How are you doing?  I hope you are having a great day so far!  I'm glad you are taking the time to visit today! 

I had a lot of fun putting this card together! It almost has a comic book feel to it. I started with choosing my papers and color schemes.  I knew I wanted to create a fun scene and I was trying to get the contrast between the top card panel & the bottom card panel so that it showed the houses were in two different places, apart.  Kind of like a "missing you" card.  

To create my panel I used the cool new die by Frantic Stamper called Diagonal Card Sketcher.  The top turquoise panel was popped up with dimensionals.  I laid the sunrise pattern paper in the top panel and the "nighttime" patterned paper in the bottom panel.  The long row of houses, Downtown Row Houses, was also popped up with dimensionals.

I wanted the windows to be behind the die cut row of houses so that everything wouldn't be flush & would give the houses some dimension.  The easiest way to do this was to impress the die into my cardstock like I would if I were using an embossing folder (shown in the example above). This also gave the windows kind of a puffy look which I really liked. (On my Big Shot my sandwich was multipurpose platform with no tabs, cutting plate, embossing mat, cardstock, die facing down, cutting plate & 2 pieces of cardstock for a shim.)  Once it was impressed, I cut inside of the outline of the houses so that when I lined the windows up, none of the light gray cardstock would show except in the windows, as shown above.  Then, I adhered the two pieces together.

The single house is from another set of dies called The Suburb Houses which are great to use alone or with the Downtown Row Houses die.  For this house, I just cut out a piece of light gray cardstock and adhered it behind the house.  You can see how the windows aren't "puffy" like in the row of houses.  The "greetings" sentiment and the three hearts are all dies included in the the Diagonal Card Sketcher die!  There are several fun pieces that are part of this die set!  You need to check it out! :)
