First (not so good) Attempt at Copics

Well, I finally bit the bug and got some copic markers.  I said I never would.  I don't really enjoy coloring a lot.  I mean, I like to do it, but it takes so much time so I don't do it very often.  But, on our Stamping Away weekend, Amy & Laurie really wanted to do a make & take at a scrapbook store and for the first time EVER, I used copic markers.  I shouldn't have.  I liked the way they felt.  I liked the way they moved on the paper.  So...I decided to get a few to try them out.  I'm not going to invest in a lot of colors right now, just a few trio sets so I can decide if I like them...and if I'll use them.

I have no idea what I'm doing.  I plan to watch some videos today about how to use them, about how to make them blend.  Mine aren't blending even when I work with it wet, but I know it is not the markers fault...yep, all user error.  But, I did make a card.  Please ignore all the spots I went out of the lines, and how very, very harsh my lines are!! :)

This was for a wedding and I found an appropriate sentiment in the PTI set Heartfelt Basics.   This set is so great for LOTS of occasions.  I've used it quite a bit!

Well, like I said, I need to learn how to use copics, but it was a first attempt! :)  Thanks for stopping by!!  Have a wonderful day!

Supplies (all PTI unless noted)
Stamps: Butterfly Dreams, Enjoy the Ride, Fancy Flourish
Paper: Aqua Mist, Black, White
Ink: Memento Black, Champagne VersaMark, True Black

This is beautiful! I love the blue and black together! It's so striking - and perfect for a wedding card. I have said I'm not buying Copics either. They scare me! You did a great job on your first attempt! I bet you'll fall in love with them...but don't tell me about it!

It looks good. And I can't believe how the colors seem to match your cardstock perfectly! How'd you manage that one? Love how you cut the butterflies and adhered them - it's such a pretty card. BTW, did you get my $?

Love this card Jen! The colors you used and the flourish and butterflies work so well together! You coloring IMO is really good for someone who just picked up a marker. There is a bit of a learning curve. I am still trying my best to figure it out too!

You did a great job! I said I wouldn't buy them either, but after seeing all the wonderful work all the ladies do on the blogs, I bought them too. I don't have any trios though and I wish I did.

Beautiful card! Love the shading on your butterflies. You should look at Flourishes for copic markers in combos. I have been selecting certain color groups and just use what I like to color in my images.

I think your card turned out beautifully! I have not practiced much with my growing set of Copics yet either and I'm wondering if I should keep investing in them. I so want to learn! Good for you for taking the plunge!

I love the black and white with a pop of aqua. Copics DO take some getting used to...but they are oh so much fun once you get the hang of it. Great job at jumping right in with them!
