Passion for Papertrey: Inspired by a Song

Hello everyone!! Sorry I haven't updated my blog very often lately! So much has been going on that I haven't taken much time to stamp for several weeks!!! I KNOW!! :)

I have another card today for the newest Passion for Papertrey blog challenge!! This challenge was to make a card using a song for inspiration.   The song that just kept coming to my mind and having so much meaning to me was a new one by Chris Tomlin (I LOVE his music!) called "Symphony".  If you are interested, you can hear the song a see the video with the complete lyrics at the bottom of this post.

I thought I'd share a few verses from the song and tell you how it inspired me along with my card.

Shining wonders, fields of splendor
How they sing Your symphony
The deepest oceans, rising mountains
How they sing Your symphony

Let the earth fear the Lord
And all the people of the world
Stand in awe, stand in awe

In symphony with all created things
Sing the song that we were made to sing
We stand in awe, we stand in awe

In the skies and in the oceans
Everything that's living, breathing
A symphony to You

There will be no greater song
In the heights above or the earth below
Jesus, all for You!

Here is the card inspired by those words.

I live in Kansas and right now the fields are full of the splendor of God.  I love, LOVE this time of year as the fields begin to grow.  The other day we were coming home from town and as we turned onto the road that leads to our small town, the fields were literally dancing (it is very windy here a lot!!).  It was one of the most beautiful sights and I was very much in awe as I told my husband to slow down and just look!  That is what this song says to me!  The fields seemed to be dancing for the Lord and in that moment I was able to sing the praises of God and stand in awe.  It's amazing what a little wind and some tall grasses/crops can do for my soul!  I also love when the wheat begins to turn golden.  It is such a beautiful picture and another one that makes me sing a symphony of praise to the Lord.  So, that is how this song inspired me to create this card.

I knew that there were several things that I wanted to incorporate on this card.
1.  music notes
2.  flower silhouettes
3.  soft colors

If you take a close look you will see that I used PTI's Sheet Music background stamp on the label shape.  It is stamped with PTI's tea dye ink very lightly.  I stamped the flower with the Swirly Bouquets set (can you believe that I don't have a silhouette stamp set!?) and the stem from that same set in Sweet Blush ink to make the flower appear as a silhouette.  I also added white pearls that I had colored pink with my copics to match the ink...love that technique!

For the ribbon, I punched a hole with my Crop-a-Dile in the label frame and then threaded my ribbon through that and tucked it behind.  Then, I tied a seperate bow and attached it with score tape.

It makes me wonder what song God was singing as he created this world...because it seems natural to be singing or praising or listening to music as you create for some reason.  I have never thought about that before, but maybe while He was creating (even the field that I was enjoying the other day) a symphony of angels were singing His favorite songs.

Thank you for stopping by today!! I hope you were blessed and inspired by the song, by a word, by the card.   Be sure to visit the Passion for Papertrey blog and play along with this challenge!!

Jen,

What a beautiful card, and beautiful thoughts!! I, too, have often wondered what music God listened to as he created this beautiful world! I hadn't heard this song before, but I love it! Thanks for sharing!

Gorgeous card Jen! I love the softness of the music bg on the sentiment panel. Great color combo too. What I love even more is your description of the fields dancing for the Lord! Isn't is amazing when we open our eyes to see His wonders everyday?

It would be hard for me to pick a fave element, it's all good...the embossed background, the design, the colors, the ribbon. So cute!

I really enjoyed looking at your cards and listening to this lovely piece of music. I also love the Lord and it's nice to 'meet' another sister in Christ!

Beautiful card and post today Jen. I love your card with the music background. How appropriate for a card whose inspiration was based on a symphony. Our little house in Montana has rolling hills nearby and when the grass is tall and there are wildflowers growing, I know exactly what you mean by the grass dancing in the wind.
