The challenge today was to create a page that was not square so I chose a heart shape!! So fun!

I used Versamark to stamp the swirls from "Curls & Swirls" stamp set and the April "Date Disk".

Sweets for My Sweet

In honor of National Scrapbooking Day coming up, several Angel Company Angels are participating in a week of scrapbooking challenges. Today, for this challenge I made a fun and VERY bright layout!

I am still learning how to get the best pictures of my scrapbook pages with my new camera and so far I'm not having the best of luck. I apologize for the inconsistency in color on these pages and am trying to learn how to do better!

Adding this ribbon made the layout so much fun! I had previously done this on a card and decided that it would be great to add to a layout and I think it turned out pretty cute. I made each layer of ribbon lay down the opposite way.

This is what the journaling area looks like close up. I typed out what I wanted to say and then cut it up into little journaling boxes.

This is part of the border. The flowers are from "Linear Sentiments" and the saying is from "Little Cupcake". They are stamped in VersaMark.

Floral Dingbats Farewell

You all know how much I LOVE Floral Dingbats. Well, it is on The Angel Company's Final Farewell list of stamps to be discontinued. I'll be soooo sad to see it go, but that just means you'll be seeing a lot more of the Victorian Elements and Aged Ornament sets in it's place. This is another card that I made for the Design Call back in December but since this set is being discontinued, you won't see this one being published for sure.

This card is paired with TAC's Genevieve paper which is a very rich paper. Lots of blues and greens and purples in this paper pack. The base of the card is TAC Kraft cardstock.

The Floral Dingbats on the purple paper were stamped with VersaMark ink. I love how easy it is to make a watercolor effect with that ink!

Final Farewells for Some TAC Stamps!

Some of my favorite stamp sets are being discontinued (so sad about that!!) and that means savings for you! I decided to feature a few cards made using some of the retiring sets below. These are cards that I submitted for TAC's design call but they obviously won't be making the catalogue now since these sets will be retiring.

I LOVE this set!! It is "Love Doodles" and is now only $8.21! What a bargain! I'll SERIOUSLY miss this one!

The stamp I used on this one that is retiring are the little swirls at the bottom. These are from the "Salsa Flowers" set on page 34. This set is now only $5.95.

And, a GREAT set for making masculine cards is "Fore". This one is also only $8.21!

Sweet Things

During April if you place a $30 order, you can also purchase three stamp sets that you won't find in the catalogue and that are only available during this month. I couldn't resist these little cupcakes and I wanted to show you a few cards I made with them. What a fun set for birthdays & celebrations (and even friendship cards!).

Aren't these colors yummy? I love them! I used orange monochromatic Bazzill and Robin's Egg 1 DCWV paper. I colored the image with my watercolor crayons and a dove blender. I've been playing with different ways to tie a bow and I love this one!

Here's a closeup of the sparkles on the frosting. I made these with the glitter pens.

The next card has another yummy color combination and it's just perfect for fluffy cupcakes! The image was colored with watercolor crayons again and I put pink stickles on the cherry.

Here's a closeup of the bow. It doesn't have a center knot. I laid it how I wanted it and then tied scrapper's floss around it to secure it and then tied the floss off by threading it through the button holes and tying. I really like the result. I glued the bow onto the flat ribbon.

Showers of Love Mini Blog Hop

My good friend Laurie and I are having a mini-blog hop today featuring cards we made using the Serendipity TAC "Showers of Love" stamp set. I loved this set from the moment I saw it! Then, I got it and didn't know what to do with it! Well, last week Laurie and I were discussing this and so we challenged each other to use it and we'd display the results for all to see today! You can see Laurie's projects here!

Once I picked this set up and started playing with it, I couldn't put it down! More and more ideas kept popping into my head and I finally stopped 7 cards later so that I could write this post. You'll probably see more of this set soon.

Here is my favorite card of all those I made. I CASED it from Dawn McVey and you can see her card here.

I used "Friendship Strips", "Linear Sentiments" and Moonlight White Brilliance ink to create the striped background. The cardstock is TAC Kraft, Ultrasmooth White, TAC Brown & DCWV Coral Red 3. I used Belle Rose & Burnt Umber Palette inks on the images. The sentiment comes from the "With Sympathy" stamp set.

Here's a closeup of the bow. I attached a button to the flower with glue dots. You can also see that the tag is punched using the Giga Merchandise Punch from the catalogue.

This next card was inspired by a wedding invitation I received in the mail last week. Laurie and I just "ewwwed" and "ahhhhed" over it and she made her own version of it that you can see on her blog.

The bottom of the original invitation was stamped in white ink using a damask stamp. I created my background using the largest umbrella and stamped them in a row, first right side up and then upside down. It created a FUN background that you can use in SO many ways!! The ink I used was again, my favorite white ink, Moonlight White Brilliance.

The next card has an elegant look to it. The paper is available for FREE! Yep, I said free. You can go here to TAC's website and print it off and use it in your cards or projects. Print it onto any color cardstock that you'd like and see the different results that you get! For this card I printed the polka dot background onto TAC Scarlet paper.

I embossed the image and sentiment with white embossing powder.

This next card measures 4x4. You can make a card this size fairly quickly! I used one of my favorite bazzill cardstock colors that comes in the Blue Greens Monochromatic paper pack: aqua. LOVE it!!

The base of this card and the scalloped border are TAC's brown. I used Water Lilly Green Palette ink for the umbrella and then rolled the edges of the stamp in Burnt Umber Palette ink. The sentiment comes from the "Seeds of Blessings" set.

I wanted to make a card using bright colors too...after all it is Spring! So, here it is:

I tried to find sentiments from various TAC sets to help you to think outside the stamp set with how this set can be used. In fact, I didn't make any invitation cards at all with the set, even though many of the sentiments can be used for that. This sentiment is from the "More Abundance" set.

Here is a very, very simple card that you can make in minutes! I love the purples in this one.

The dotted strip is from "Friendship Strips" and I thought it worked very well with an umbrella. The sentiment is from "Everyday Events". I just cut the sentiment from the image it was "attached" to and stamped it in Noir ink. The purple ink is Spring Pansy VersaMark.

And, last but not least, another card inspired by a bag that Dawn McVey made. You can see hers here.

I used Coral Red 3, Yellow 1 & TAC Brown cardstock. The yellow umbrellas are stamped with Thatched Straw VersaMark ink and then I used a brown tombow marker on the handles. The top pink umbrellas were stamped with Belle Rose Palette Ink.

Isn't that ribbon fun? I put a piece of red-lined sticky tape across the whole width of the card and then bunched it up as I laid the ribbon down. Then, I took glue dots and adhered each one down so that they didn't pop straight up. Simple and fun!! Love the look!!

Happy Easter

Yes, I realize that Easter was yesterday! And, yes, I also realize that this is a papercrafting blog. Papercrafting is my passion. I love it! But, I have a love and passion that far exceeds that and that comes from my relationship with my personal Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.

I saw a video this morning that I just had to share with you. This is only the second time that I can recall since I started this blog that I have ever shared anything not paper crafting related so I hope that you don't mind the deviation this morning!

Easter was celebrated yesterday, but it should be celebrated every day of the year! Thank you Jesus for the sacrifice you made for me...and that you didn't stay dead. Because of that I can enjoy a hope of things to come, a place better than even my imagination can conjur up! Thank you for paying the price for me!

April Showers Bring...

In honor of the rain that we have been receiving in Kansas lately, I decided an umbrella card was in order so I pulled out my new "Showers of Love" TAC stamp set!! And, if you check back next Tuesday, Laurie and I will both be featuring more projects made using this same set!

I realize that this is a rather unusual color combo but I got it by turning to my trusty color wheel and it put these colors together for me! If you notice, I added coordinating stickles to each of the little balls on the tops and bottoms of the umbrellas for just that little extra element. The sentiment is on pop dots and the ribbon was tied through holes I punched in the "tag".

Palette ink colors I used: Water Lilly Green, Lamore Red, Reflection Blue & Landscape

Altered Reece Candle

At the Kansas Roundup a few weeks ago we had a prop swap and I altered a candle base and glass candle holder for my swap. It was so much fun and a little hard to let go of. This was another item that I found in the home clearance section of Hobby Lobby for only $3.40 and that included the wood base and the clear glass candle holder! What a bargain! The base originally had cream paisleys painted all over it and was not in the best shape but I thought that the part that wasn't painted perfectly matched TAC's Reece Paper Pack.

I wanted to make it a little fancier, so I also decorated the glass candle holder.

TIP: I took a big white button from Audrey Embellishment Jar sold in the TAC catalogue and ran the edges around my Burnt Umber Palette ink pad and then heated it until it was dry with my heat gun. Then, I covered the front of the button with Lamore Red Palette ink several times and dried. After that, I used a sponge to dab some Burnt Umber Palette ink on the button and dried and this is how I got the brown & red button to match the Reece paper exactly! I have done this with MANY buttons to custom color them to match the cardstock that I am working with at the time!

I took some matching ribbon, wrapped it around the jar and ran it through the button holes. If you cut your ribbon with a very small pointed end, it is MUCH easier to get it through button holes! Then, I took 2 green buttons from the In Bloom Buttons & Blossoms pack, threaded tan scrappers floss through the holes and then curled the ends. I tied the buttons onto the jar by tying the scrappers floss around the ribbon knot (this is covered up and can't be seen but made the buttons much more secure).

To finish the project off, I put some clear glass pebbles in the bottom of the jar and put a burgundy candle on top. That's all there is to it! Simple and fun and makes a great gift!

New Look

You may have noticed the new look for my blog. It's been fun messing around with it and trying to find something that I like. I got the background from Background Fairy. Isn't it cool? The title banner I made myself...not the greatest but ok for my first try.

Stamping in Scrapbooks Blog Hop

This was such a fun layout to make as I absolutely adore these pictures of Sadie! These were taken about a month ago when she was almost a year old.

The stamps I used are TAC's Level B Hostess Set "Floral Labels" and the TAC "Punctuation" set which is great for journaling! I also used TAC's "Linear Sentiments" for a border (stamped in VersaMark) on the red paper.

You can see the journal lines from the "Punctuation" set in the closeup photo above. I first stamped the image on the cardstock. Then, I journaled on my computer using a table with the same number of lines and the same height and width of the stamp. Then, I printed the journaling on a scratch piece of paper and used a light box to line up the stamped journal lines with the journaling. Then, I taped the cardstock on top of the scratch paper and ran it through my printer again. This allowed the journaling to be right where I wanted it to be within the journaling lines. I adhered it to the page using pop dots.

The green background cardstock is DCWV Apple Green 2 and the red is one of my favorites, Scarlet. The white scalloped paper is from the new Scalloped paper pack that TAC has in the Serendipity Magalogue and it is one 8x8 piece of the paper, cut so that I could use it on both pages!

The floral labels are stamped on the pink piece of paper from the "Lilly Anna" paper pack in Giverny Green & Lamore Red Palette ink. The pink scalloped cardstock on the layout is from the Pinks & Red Violets Monochromatic cardstock pack, cut with my cloud scissors.

This is a cloesup of the title box. I printed the sentiment from the computer and then stamped the corner flower image in Giverny Green Palette ink. It is very hard to see in this photo, but I also stamped a row of flowers using the "Linear Sentiments" set with Chartreuse Palette ink on both the top and bottom of the box. I used a glitter gel pen to add just a touch of sparkle to the flower images (you could also use stickles). It is also popped up with pop dots.

Here is a closeup of the scarlet paper (which looks more orangey than scarlet in these photos). I stamped the flower image from the "Floral Labels" set using VersaMark ink and then also stamped a row of the flowers from the "Linear Sentiments" on the side & bottom edges of the cardstock to add a subtle element to the page.
