At the Kansas Roundup a few weeks ago we had a prop swap and I altered a candle base and glass candle holder for my swap. It was so much fun and a little hard to let go of. This was another item that I found in the home clearance section of Hobby Lobby for only $3.40 and that included the wood base and the clear glass candle holder! What a bargain! The base originally had cream paisleys painted all over it and was not in the best shape but I thought that the part that wasn't painted perfectly matched TAC's Reece Paper Pack.I wanted to make it a little fancier, so I also decorated the glass candle holder.
TIP: I took a big white button from Audrey Embellishment Jar sold in the TAC catalogue and ran the edges around my Burnt Umber Palette ink pad and then heated it until it was dry with my heat gun. Then, I covered the front of the button with Lamore Red Palette ink several times and dried. After that, I used a sponge to dab some Burnt Umber Palette ink on the button and dried and this is how I got the brown & red button to match the Reece paper exactly! I have done this with MANY buttons to custom color them to match the cardstock that I am working with at the time!
I took some matching ribbon, wrapped it around the jar and ran it through the button holes. If you cut your ribbon with a very small pointed end, it is MUCH easier to get it through button holes! Then, I took 2 green buttons from the In Bloom Buttons & Blossoms pack, threaded tan scrappers floss through the holes and then curled the ends. I tied the buttons onto the jar by tying the scrappers floss around the ribbon knot (this is covered up and can't be seen but made the buttons much more secure). To finish the project off, I put some clear glass pebbles in the bottom of the jar and put a burgundy candle on top. That's all there is to it! Simple and fun and makes a great gift!
You can see the journal lines from the "Punctuation" set in the closeup photo above. I first stamped the image on the cardstock. Then, I journaled on my computer using a table with the same number of lines and the same height and width of the stamp. Then, I printed the journaling on a scratch piece of paper and used a light box to line up the stamped journal lines with the journaling. Then, I taped the cardstock on top of the scratch paper and ran it through my printer again. This allowed the journaling to be right where I wanted it to be within the journaling lines. I adhered it to the page using pop dots.
The floral labels are stamped on the pink piece of paper from the "Lilly Anna" paper pack in Giverny Green & Lamore Red Palette ink. The pink scalloped cardstock on the layout is from the Pinks & Red Violets Monochromatic cardstock pack, cut with my cloud scissors.
This is a cloesup of the title box. I printed the sentiment from the computer and then stamped the corner flower image in Giverny Green Palette ink. It is very hard to see in this photo, but I also stamped a row of flowers using the "Linear Sentiments" set with Chartreuse Palette ink on both the top and bottom of the box. I used a glitter gel pen to add just a touch of sparkle to the flower images (you could also use stickles). It is also popped up with pop dots.
