Turning a New Leaf

Well, with the turning of a new year, I felt it was only appropriate to share a couple cards with you from PTI's (Papertrey Ink) "Turning a New Leaf" set.  Both cards are super, super simple and basic.

This first one I really love the background but I should have done something different with the sentiment...it is very hard to see.  I'll probably redo that at some point.  But, I think the color scheme is fun.

This next card I stuck with the same color scheme basically and added some fun ribbon from Hobby Lobby (the center is VELVET--YUMMY!!).  The leaves on this one are stamped with a blue ink!  Really!  Sea Breeze VersaMagic.  The blue is very subtle.

You can see in the photo that the scarlet piece and ribbon are popped up.  Love this look!

Happy New Year everyone!!

Teacher's Gift Set

Well, I just put the finishing touches on Mason's teacher's gift set.  I made the post-it note holder that I showed you in this post, & 6 cards with envelopes in a hand-made box.  I tried to keep the cards fairly simple and not layered too much so that they would be easy to mail if she chose to do so.

Here is the box I made to put the cards & note holder in:

The following are the cards that I made to put inside the box:

Here are the envelopes:

Here is the card for the teacher.  It's probably my least favorite of the bunch.

Here is the complete set.

Hope she likes it!

A FUN and Unexpected Gift

Well, you know by now that I love my cricut!

Last week I got a call from my good friend Laurie.  We talk quite often during the week so I had no reason to suspect that something was up.  But, she told me that she had a surprise for me.  She was almost done with it and she wanted to know if she could come over later that day.  Yes!  I would be home.  It was hard to wait!

But, the wait was worth it!  Look what she brought me!

She made this custom-cover for my Cricut Expression!  Isn't it awesome!!??  I love the polka dots!  And, the stripes?  Well, I had purchased some of that exact fabric to make a little flower for one of Sadie's shirts!  Can you believe it! That was so sweet of her!

Thanks Laurie!  I LOVE it!

Angel Art Blog Hop: All Wrapped Up

This blog hop's theme is to create a gift package or wrapping paper.  I decided to decorate a white bag.  I used one of my all time favorite sets as a background "Ornamental Snowflakes" in a very soft pattern.  The top of the bag I folded over and created a flap with the Labels 1 Nestabilities die.  Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE that die!! :)  For this bag I closed the bag by punching holes & tying the sides with ribbon.

Doesn't the button in the middle of the snowflake have a nice effect?  At first I made the bag (and the matching card you'll see next) without the button but it just felt like it needed an extra touch.   A pink button was all it took to complete it!  Here's a closeup of the tag BEFORE I added the button.

And, here's the card to match.

Making a matching card is a nice touch to a gift!  And, you already have your supplies out, so it doesn't take a lot of extra time.

Supplies:
Stamps: Sweet Goodies, Ornamental Snowflake

Inks: Aquatic Splash VersaMagic, Toile Pink & Burnt Umber Palette
Paper: TAC Ultrasmooth White, Pink Bazzill, Robin's Egg DCWV, TAC More Mimi
Accessories: Ribbon, Button, Pop Dots, Scalloped Circle & Border Punch, Circle Punch, Labels 1 Nestabilities Die

I've been playing along this week with a Christmas celebration on a site designed just for demonstrater's for TAC.  Every day we have had several challenges to complete.  I thought I'd show you some of the creations I've made for that.

This first one was to create a card that was inspired by this photo.

Here's the card I submitted:

I had orginally made another card for this challenge but after I went to the gallery I noticed that it looked a lot like Lauries! :)  So I made another one to submit instead.  Below is the first card that I made.

Teacher Gift

Here is a simple project I made for my son's teacher for Christmas.  We aren't suppose to get the teacher's a gift but I hope that since I made it it will be ok.  I want to let her know we appreciate her!  This is a post-it note holder.

I had so much fun making this!  The lined background paper is made with a background stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms.  I love it because it is perfect for school related projects!

Here are some other views:

See those polka dots on the scarlet paper?  I made those with the PTI Polka Dot Basics stamp set.  LOVE making my own backgrounds!  So, so versatile and you know how much I LOVE polka dots!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Papertrey Ink (PTI) Teacher's Apple, PTI Polka Dot Basics, CHF Lined Paper (?) Backgrounder
Ink:  Palette Lamore Red, Reflection Blue & Landscape
Paper:  TAC Scarlet & Ivory
Other: BIA Wire, Post-it notes, ribbon, Nestabilities 1 Dies, Pop Dots, eyelet, walnut ink (to distress the edges)

Hope you enjoyed this project!

Stuffed Winter Friends

The Angel Company asked me design some samples for the December Stamp of the Month.  I have to admit that this stamp set challenged me.  I don't typically do animals and these animals were out of my normal "style".  But, I did want to show you a couple of the samples that I made that are not on TAC's website.  You can see my other samples here.

This card is very unusual in that the base of it is a clear scalloped coaster.  The red scallopes are circles punched out of Scarlet paper and then adhered with glue dots to the clear scallops.  The blue paper has "Script Background" and some snowflake images stamped on it with VersaMark ink.  For the duck's hat, I glued a little pom pom on.  I really like that effect.

Here's a picture of the inside.

And, here's one last card using this stamp set.

I can so see this same card using a different image!  What about a Christmas tree or ornament!?  I love how the "Edge Designs" stamp (stamped in white on the scarlet paper) provides a nice whimsical border.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Hope you are having a great day!

March of the Snowmen Blog Hop

You've heard about the March of the Penguins - BUT have you heard of the March of the Snowmen???  Well, you've just entered a fun March of the Snowmen Blog Hop!  Be prepared for fun snowmen ideas galore!

I created two cards for this blog hop.  This pastel creation is first up.

I love the border I cut with the cricut on blue cardstock (from PTI).  I stamped a light pink snowflake design on the Kraft cardstock and then used the same Pixie Dust VersaMagic ink to outline the edge of the Kraft card as well.  Kind of gives it a wintry feel to me.

Supplies for Snowman Joy:

Stamps: TAC Holiday Cheer, TAC October Stamp of the Month
Ink: Claret Palette, Turquoise Gem & Pixie Dust VersaMagic & VersaMark
Paper: TAC Kraft & Ivory, PTI Aqua Mist, Spring Moss
Other: Ribbon (Hobby Lobby), Rhinestones, Eyelet, Pop Dots, Grey Tombow Marker

For this next card I went with a totally different color scheme...a little more traditional Christmas colors. The background is stamped with VersaMark Champagne so it has a shimmer to it. I also took my VersaMark Champagne ink pad and dabbed the little snowman circles/images with it.  This created a little bit of a shimmer on those pieces as well.  The little snowmen circles are popped up on pop dots.

Supplies for Mini Occassions Snowmen:
Stamps:  TAC Mini Occassions, TAC Level A Hostess Set Tiny Tidbits, TAC October Stamp of the Month
Ink:  Champagne VersaMark, Landscape & Moulin Rouge Palette
Paper:  TAC Ivory, PTI Scarlet Jewel, PTI Spring Moss & PTI Ripe Avocado
Other:  PTI Ripe Avocado Button, Scor-pal, Cricut (for scalloped circles), 1" Circle Punch, pop dots

I hope you enjoyed these snowmen cards!  Be sure to check out all of the other participants' blogs to see lots more snowmen creations!

Vintage Christmas

Well, it's no secret how much I LOVE "Victorian Elements"!  So, after I made the tag, I had to put it as a focal image on a card.

I stamped "Script Background" from TAC (love that stamp!) with Cognac Palette ink for the background.  Then, I took my sponge and distressed the edges with Jardin Moss Palette ink.  The only other thing I did before I adhered the tag was to take some DCWV White core paper and punched a border and then used a sponge to distress it, bringing out the white core.

I know it's hard to tell in the photo, but before I glued the kraft piece of the tag to the green scalloped mat, I crumpled it up to give it even more of an aged look (I did this before when I made the tag).

Hope you enjoyed it!

Supplies
Stamps:  TAC Script Background, Victorian Elements, Holiday Cheer
Paper:  TAC Kraft, DCWV Reddish Pink, Green Bazzill
Ink:  Cognac, Jardin Moss & Lamore Red Palette
Other:  Fiskars Border Punch, Pop Dots

Pink Christmas

Remember those tags that I made earlier this week for the blog hop?  Well, I decided to take those and turn them into the focal images of cards.  I kept these cards super simple so the whole card, with tag, only takes 10 minutes or LESS to make!

Today I'll share with you the first one which also happens to be my favorite of the 3 and I'll share the other 2 cards over the next few days.

This is such a fun, non-traditional color combination!  I am really liking it.  I may have to try it again.  I stamped the polka dots (from Papertrey Ink) on the pink paper in Champagne VersaMark so it has a subtle shimmer to it.

This shows the dimension.  I used some very thin pop dots to pop up the "tag".  See that button?  I tied scrappers floss through it and left the ends to come out the bottom of the button (the underside).  Then, instead of tying it, I used a glue dot to adhere the ends down and it also adheres the button to the cardstock.

Hope you enjoyed it!

Supplies:
Paper:  Green Bazzills, TAC White Ultrasmooth, Hibiscus Burst Pink PTI
Ink:  Champagne VersaMark, Lamore Red, Moonlight White Brilliance
Stamps:  TAC Joyful Ornaments, TAC Holiday Cheer, PTI Polka Dot Basics
Other:  Ribbon, PTI button, Scrappers Floss, Swiss Dots Embossing Folder, Thin Pop Dots (From Hobby Lobby)
