So Grateful for You

Hey everyone! I was in a Fall mood when I created the card I am going to share today.  It certainly feels like Fall as I'm writing this post.  It's breezy, a little chilly and has been rainy today.  Perfect Fall weather!

So Grateful Acorn Bauble Side 1.1

The first thing I created was the acorn.  I used a Teardrop Christmas Bauble die from Frantic Stamper to create it.  When I was playing with it I all of a sudden saw an acorn!  I first impressed the Woodgrain Card Panel die into the dark brown cardstock to make the texture for the acorn.  Then, I used the Bauble die to cut the "acorn" out.  Next, I cut the Bauble again with the patterned paper and then trimmed off the top part with scissors to create the cap.  I also trimmed off the top hanger part of the die with scissors as well.  When I was finished I was so happy with the acorn shape!  I tied a little linen thread around the top to make a bow and added a sequin.

So Grateful Acorn Bauble Closeup 1.1

The background was cut using the Woodgrain Panel die again.  Doesn't it look so different both cut and impressed (into the acorn)?  Love that you can get both looks from one die!  The sentiment was computer generated.

I was inspired by several challenges when I made this card!

First was the Cutting Edge Challenge #12 using Amy's card for inspiration.

Next, was the Simon Says Challenge Monday Challenge Letter "O" challenge.  I used "O" for Orange & October!

And last, I used the colors from the Paper Players #217 Challenge with some neutrals thrown in.

The dies I used on this card are:

Thanks for visiting! Have a happy Fall day!

  3. Wow! I loved this card at first glance and that was BEFORE I read about your genius idea of converting the Christmas bauble into an acorn! I love it when our crafting supplies can serve more than one purpose, so thanks for helping me see the vision on this one. Great creativity and out-of-the-box thinking. I also really liked the combo of patterned paper you chose. I love polka dots and that patterned paper on the acorn top is adorable! Thank you so much for the inspiration and for sharing this with us here at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog!

Love when the creative eye sees a use for a die other than what it was created for...makes our purchases so much more worthwhile on top of making you feel creatively wonderful:):)!!
