A Note of Thanks

Up first is a gorgeous new stamp set called Whimsical Blooms.  Oh my!  I LOVE this set!  Once I started playing with this set I couldn't stop!  Using the color combo below I made three cards and am sharing this one with you today.  

I stamped the background with the previously released Buffalo Plaid background stamp.  It was the perfect background for these stamps!  Then I die cut the tag from the Lovely Flowers & Banners dies out of Premium White cardstock.  I stamped many of the flowers in the Whimsical Blooms stamp set and die cut them with the coordinating Whimsical Blooms dies.  The sentiment is from the Note of Thanks stamp set.  Isn't that script so pretty? I added some sequins from the Crater Lake Sequin Mix to finish the card off.

The ink colors I used are: It's a Girl, Be Mine, Stone Blue, Juniper Mist, Shea Butter, Sauna, Garden Party & Lime Rickey

Create Your Own Sunshine
If you've followed my blog for long you know I love incorporating lots of color into my cards and I especially love rainbows as they are a reminder of God's promise to us and love for us.  So when I was playing with the new Scatter Sunshine Stamp Set I knew that I had to find a way to make a sun ray that was also a rainbow.  So I did (quite a few times actually but this is my favorite attempt).  

Let's start with the background of the card first.  I put a little piece of Black Tie Gala Patterned Paper at the top of the card because I loved the contrast between the bright rainbow colors and the black & white.  I die cut some green paper with the Postage Stamps dies and then stamped the sentiment from the Scatter Sunshine Stamp Set.  I die cut the Sunshine Word die out of cardstock inked with Limoncello ink and then inked it with VersaMark and poured Wanderlust Embossing Powder over it & heat set it to create that wonderful sparkly look.  

I admit it took me several attempts to get that sun ray rainbow exactly how I wanted it.  To create it I used a piece of Premium White cardstock, stamped the rays first and then added in the half sun stamped in Limoncello ink.  I used my Misti for this as I wanted to be sure the sun was nice & bright and this way I could stamp it several times.  I used a detailed tip water brush pen and picked up ink from my ink pads and then painted it on in a upward stroke in each sun ray segment. Once finished, I die cut the piece with one of the stitched dies in the Postage Stamps dies (if you don't have these dies, I highly recommend them!) and then wrapped twine around the panel before adhering it to the card with dimensional tape.
