Welcome to the May Papertrey Ink blog hop! I have 2 cards to share with you today but first, the challenge.
May is the month when many flowers finally go into full bloom after a long winter's sleep. For the blog hop this month we want to see your favorite take on flowers.
What a fun challenge!!
Up first is a clean & simple card.
Ahhh...summer flowers! I love them and I couldn't resist looking for fabric in my stash with lots of color in it for this flower! (I used the small yo-yo maker to make this flower and attached it with a large glue dot.)
I used one of the grass clumps from the new PTI anniversary set and then added Raspberry Fizz rhinestones for little accent flowers. I am soooo loving this Cane Impression Plate! I wasn't sure if I needed it at first but now I can't quit using it on every card I am making! The impression is so gorgeous!! And, of course, that Lemondrop twine from The Twinery adds a great contrast to the Hawaiian Shores paper!
I am also entering this into the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge this week to use bling!
The 2nd card I have to share with you today is totally different and very bold!
Ready?
How about a black & white polka dotted fence? It is cut out of fabric so in real life it has an extra-fun texture! The flower is also die cut out of fabric...I'm in a fabric mood lately! (Be watching because I have something extra fun to share with you in the next few days using fabric & felt!! I can't wait!!)
In order to make the fabric stiff enough to die cut, I used Pellon Craft Fuse Iron-On Backing which adds stability and strength (I got that right off the package, lol!!) to your fabric. It was simple, simple to do. I picked up a 1/4 of a yard in the fabric section of Hobby Lobby. Then, I cut a small square of fabric and backing. Then, you just iron them together. That's it! Very simple! It makes the fabric stiff enough to die cut (although I went over the die in my machine 3 times to make sure it cut through all of the material. I probably should have thought to use my metal shim...thanks Kristin!!...If you have a shim, you might give that a try to add a little extra pressure to get a good cut.
Be sure to visit the others in the PTI Blog Hop! Entries can be added until 10 PM CST on Nichole's blog!
Thank you so much for visiting! I can't wait to check out the rest of the participants!!
