Custom Ribbon...Do it Yourself

Have you ever wished for just the right color of ribbon, only to come up empty handed?  Me too!  I have a quick and easy solution for you today.  Make your own!  Since I happen to love polka dots, I wanted to show you how you can make your own custom polka dotted ribbon like the ribbon I used in the card below.

Step 1.  Cut your ribbon to the approximate length that you'll need it.  I wrapped mine around my card, tied it how I thought I'd want it and then cut.  I made sure to leave a few extra inches so that I could easily tie the bow when I was ready.

Step 2.  Choose your ink and stamp.  Clear stamps are going to work the best because you'll be able to see exactly where you are stamping.  I chose to use PTI's Polka Dot Basics stamp set and their Hibiscus Burst Pigment ink.

Step 3.  Stamp the image repeatedly on the ribbon.

Step 4.  When you are finished, turn the ribbon over and stamp in the same spot you stamped on the front. If it doesn't match up perfectly, that's ok. It will still work great.

That's all there is to it!  Now, it's ready to put on your card!

Here's another example of where I used this same custom ribbon technique.  This time I only made a small piece to use as an accent.

Here's a closeup of the ribbon.  Isn't that cool?

Wouldn't it be fun to make ribbon with hearts or stripes or stars, etc?  You could make it in any color you'd like to match your project!  The possibilities are endless.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope I got you inspired to make your own custom ribbon.  If you decide to use this idea on a card, I'd LOVE to see it!  Be sure to let me know in the comments section and leave a link to your card!  Have a great day!
