Damask Yo-Yo

Hello! I hope you all had a great weekend!! It is cold and snowy here and while I'm glad for moisture, I'm not a huge fan of cold or snow!  But, we'll manage!  LOL!

I have a quick post for you today.  I made another card with a yo-yo and I think I'm going to be addicted to these for a while!  They are SO FUN to make!

I loved this material the moment I laid eyes on it!  Brown & turquoise...one of my favorite color combos!  I love it even more as a yo-yo on a card!  I kept this layout very simple so it wouldn't distract from the yo-yo.  This card was fast and easy to put together.  I took my ink pad and ran it around the outside edges of the card to give it a little bit of color and additional visual interest.

I used some more glitter paper on the banner die.  That stuff is so fun and easy to use! I love the no-mess results!

Thanks for coming by today!! I hope you have a great day!

Stylish Blogger Award

I received a fun blog award lately that I wanted to share!  It is the Stylish Blogger Award!  Thanks so much Christine and Wendy!  Be sure to check out their blogs!

Rules that accompany this award:

1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this.
2. Share 8 things about yourself.
3. Pay it forward to bloggers that you have recently discovered.

8 things about myself:
1.  I grew up in Kansas, went to college in Nebraska, moved to Missouri for 5 years with my husband and now we are back in Kansas near where we each grew up!
2.  Growing up I wanted to be a teacher or a missionary and am both, just not in a "professional" capacity!  LOL!
3.  My husband is a pastor.
4.  In high school I worked at our small-town grocery store.  In college I worked for four years in a library.  When I got married, I worked 3 days at Cracker Barrel (but there was no way I could get out of bed at 3:30ish a.m. every morning) and then at a large corporation in the human resources department.  When we moved to Kansas City, I was the office manager at Bott Radio Network/KCCV.
5.  I hate sandwiches.  Everyone always tries to figure out why.  It is so Un-American, I know!  I don't like lunch meat.  At all.  I don't like mayonnaise.  I don't like peanut butter & jelly sandwiches either.  But then again, I don't really care for peanut butter much either.  But I DO like hamburgers on buns and hot dogs!  (Yes, I am picky!)
6.  I love to read and am currently reading a novel by Karen Kingsbury called "Every Now & Then".
7.  I was in Forensics in high school.  I love to act but it doesn't come as easy to me as it once did.
8.  I was sent to the Principal's office twice in high school.  The first time was because I wrote my name on a bulletin board that had 1,000ish other names written on it and no "white space" left on it at all.  I had to pay to have that old bulletin board replaced.  (I still think that was dumb...lol!!) The 2nd time was when the principal told me that I would be the Salutatorian of my Senior class (and yes, I had to give a speech!).

Now I get to share this award with 3 other bloggers whom I have recently discovered!! How fun!!

1.  Jean Martin:  I just recently discovered her blog and I tell you, I've been missing out!! She does a fabulous job putting together lots of different elements on her cards!! Beautiful work!

2.  Kelly S. Gingham Girl:  Kelly has so many fun cards on her blog! Check out her recent 2011 Top 10 post to see a sampling of her beautiful work!
3.  Debby - Lime Doodle:  I can't even tell you how much I love Debby's blog!  It was love at first sight!  She has the most adorable creations on her blog! Stunning and beautiful work sums them all up!

Make sure to take a look at these blogs and leave them a comment or two (and let them know I sent you!!)

Have a great weekend!!  Thanks for stopping by!

A Joy to Me

Hi everyone!  Happy Thursday!  I made a card for the Verve Monday Mojo challenge (MOJO172) that I wanted to share with you.  I used several fun new items on this card too.

I'm sure you've probably noticed all the beautiful fabric choices out there!  Last week my mom came over and taught me how to sew (not that I am now an expert, I still have A LOT to learn!!) and we made Sadie a simple little dress that I'll show you sometime!  I had leftover fabric from her dress and I used some of the scraps to make the yo-yo on this card!

I have a feeling you'll be seeing me use a lot more of these!! They are SO fun (and easy to make too)!!  I also used a doily on this card which is another new thing for me.  I've had them sitting next to my space for some time now but have never taken the time to incorporate one onto a card.  This sketch seemed to be the perfect time to try one!

The rhinestones are colored with my copics!! I love that I can custom color embellishments to meet my needs!

I sewed a button to the top of this yo-yo but they are so cute plain too!  I can't even begin to imagine all the possibilities that you could do with these!!  So fun!!  You want to know a funny story?  I was chatting with Amy last night and told her that I had picked up something different to try and after I told her she said that she had almost purchased supplies to make some too!  We had never even discussed it!  Amy, Laurie & I are always joking about being peas in a pod...guess that this is another example of that!

Here is the sketch that my card is based on:

Thanks for coming by!! I hope you enjoyed this colorful card!  Have a great day!

A Birthday Gift

Hi!! I have another card with banners to share with you today!  Have I mentioned how much I LOVE banners!?  Yeah, you're right...maybe a time or two...or three or four! LOL!!

I used glitter paper to make the banners.  I love the look of glitter but it is messy so I love when the mess has already been made for me!!  I used pop dots on the banners and on the largest present to add dimension.  You can see that better in the next photo.

The gift packages were cut with the PTI Make a Wish die collection.  These dies are fun even without using the stamp set that matches!

Thanks for stopping by today!! Hope you enjoyed the card!

Supplies (all PTI unless noted)
Stamps: Make a Wish Additions
Paper: Kraft, Library Ledger & DCWV Glitter Paper
