A Joy to Me

Hi everyone!  Happy Thursday!  I made a card for the Verve Monday Mojo challenge (MOJO172) that I wanted to share with you.  I used several fun new items on this card too.

I'm sure you've probably noticed all the beautiful fabric choices out there!  Last week my mom came over and taught me how to sew (not that I am now an expert, I still have A LOT to learn!!) and we made Sadie a simple little dress that I'll show you sometime!  I had leftover fabric from her dress and I used some of the scraps to make the yo-yo on this card!

I have a feeling you'll be seeing me use a lot more of these!! They are SO fun (and easy to make too)!!  I also used a doily on this card which is another new thing for me.  I've had them sitting next to my space for some time now but have never taken the time to incorporate one onto a card.  This sketch seemed to be the perfect time to try one!

The rhinestones are colored with my copics!! I love that I can custom color embellishments to meet my needs!

I sewed a button to the top of this yo-yo but they are so cute plain too!  I can't even begin to imagine all the possibilities that you could do with these!!  So fun!!  You want to know a funny story?  I was chatting with Amy last night and told her that I had picked up something different to try and after I told her she said that she had almost purchased supplies to make some too!  We had never even discussed it!  Amy, Laurie & I are always joking about being peas in a pod...guess that this is another example of that!

Here is the sketch that my card is based on:

A Birthday Gift

Hi!! I have another card with banners to share with you today!  Have I mentioned how much I LOVE banners!?  Yeah, you're right...maybe a time or two...or three or four! LOL!!

I used glitter paper to make the banners.  I love the look of glitter but it is messy so I love when the mess has already been made for me!!  I used pop dots on the banners and on the largest present to add dimension.  You can see that better in the next photo.

The gift packages were cut with the PTI Make a Wish die collection.  These dies are fun even without using the stamp set that matches!

Thanks for stopping by today!! Hope you enjoyed the card!

Supplies (all PTI unless noted)
Stamps: Make a Wish Additions
Paper: Kraft, Library Ledger & DCWV Glitter Paper
Ink: Berry Sorbet
Other: Make a Wish Dies, twine, pop dots, hole punch

Friend to Friend (and a sale!!)

Now that Christmas has past, I'm ready to move on to the next holiday...Valentine's Day!  I love playing with pinks and reds!  They are so fun, so girly and just beautiful together.

I love the red twine by the Twinery.  Did you pick some up to wrap your Christmas gifts with and now have leftovers?  Why not use a little as an embellishment on your card.  I just LOVE how a little twine adds so much color and visual interest to a card!

Doesn't that twine just complete the card?  It practically pops off the cardstock!  The other wonderful thing about it is that it isn't as bulky as ribbon so it is easier to mail!  If you are a cardmaker you know how important that can be if you don't want to add postage to your envelope or risk your envelope getting torn up as it goes through the postal system.

To color the tree, I pulled out my much neglected gel pens.  It seemed fitting to have a pink, white & red tree on a Valentine's Day card!

If you are wondering how I made the birds eyes, it was really simple.  I took two strands of black DMC floss and knotted it three times. Then, I threaded one end through a needle and sewed it through the felt until the knots were where I wanted them.  Then, I took the other end of the thread that was still on the front side of the bird and threaded my needle again and poked my needle right underneath where the knots were and pushed it through to the back.  This made both ends of my floss end up on the back of the birds.  I tied the two strands together, snipped off the ends and used a glue dot to adhere the birds to the cardstock.

One more picture to entice you...

Ahhhh, isn't it gorgeous?  :)  Maraschino twine by The Twinery.  You can see this color and all the other fun colors by visiting The Twinery's website!

Praying For You

I loved the colors so much from last week's Curtain Call Color Challenge Act 62 that I had to make another card using them!

I just love these snowflake stamps from My Cute Stamps...had to use them again! :)  And of course that twine and the pom poms are on the top of my favorites list too right now!

I love how the snowflakes look on the embossed cardstock.  When I saw this embossing folder from Sizzix, the first thing I thought of was that it would be fun to use with snowflakes to show "movement".   Maybe I'm crazy but I like the flowing that the embossing adds.

Well, that's all I have for you today.  I'm keeping this post super short and simple!  Happy New Year everyone!!  Thanks for coming by!
