Lil' Inker Designs Mini May Release + Video Tutorial

Welcome to a special mini release from Lil' Inker Designs!  We are releasing three new stamp sets and 2 new dies that I think you're going to love!  This is a special blog hop too because we have a special group of ladies joining us today!  These wonderful ladies I have had the pleasure of spending several crafty retreat weekends with at a wonderful crafty house (check that out here) and they each received a stamp set as a gift from Laura.  And guess what!?  We are all here to share our creations with you!

If you are following along with the blog hop you should have come from my seating buddy Lisa Petrella's blog (she's such a kind person and I was so lucky to get to sit next to her at this last retreat!!).  If you are just beginning this hop here, visit Laura's blog for the entire hop order.

And of course there are prizes involved...three in fact!  All you have to do is leave a comment on the blogs in the hop to be eligible to win!

I have three projects and a short video tutorial to share with you today!

Jen Carter You Will Never Regret Being Kind  wm

First up is this great You Will Never Regret Being Kind Stamp.  There are quite a few different ways to use this stamp as you'll see as you visit the ladies' blogs.   The technique I used on this card was shown to me at our last crafty retreat by my sweet friend Cheryl.  You heat emboss the image in white embossing powder and then color over the top with copic markers.  Super simple and FUN and it packs a great punch!  I made the border with the Dual Dotted Rectangles Dies.

Here is a short video (less than 3 minutes) on how to do this easy technique.

And a closer look at the card I made in the video:

Jen Carter Be the Reason Pink

For this card I used the new Be the Reason that Someone Smiles Today stamp and the same Dual Dotted Rectangles Die as in the first card.

One last card...

Jen Carter Angel Pets Bird 1 wm

Sadly, it seems like my Facebook feed is often full of friends saying goodbye to their wonderful pets.  Lil' Inker Designs has come out with a set that is perfect for sending notes to friends & family dealing with a loss of a beloved pet.  For the above card I started by die cutting the new Cover Up Die: Stitched Clouds (I'm so excited about this die!!) to use for the background for my card.  I stamped the clouds and cute bird from the new Angel Pets stamp set and die cut them with the coordinating Angel Pets die set.  I colored them with copics.  I embossed the sentiment on vellum, also from the Angel Pets stamp set.  The large white stitched cloud and rainbow were die cut with the Rainbow & Clouds die set.

You can be eligible to win one of three prizes just by commenting on the blogs in the hop!  All of the Lil' Inker products that I've used (and more!) are available to purchase right now in the Lil' Inker Designs store!  Your next stop on the blog hop is over to another sweet gal who makes me smile, Linda Nomura's blog!

Thank you for joining me today!

**I'm also entering this in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge for Anything Goes.**

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #405

Welcome to the next Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #405!  This week the challenge is to use the provided color scheme (shown at the end of this post) on your card or project.  Our sponsor this week and the prize is from Frantic Stamper which you see a lot of on my blog.  All of the details, including prize information, can be found on the Cupcakes Inspiration blog.  I hope you'll play along!

CIC405 Jen Carter 1

For my card today I used several Frantic Stamper dies and a sneak peek of a die releasing Monday, May 1st.  I started by assembling my roses, cut with the Frantic Stamper Scribble Roses die.  I used several colors of cardstock (I didn't have a color that matched the orchid color in this color scheme so I used a few "close-like" matches) to make the roses.  I also used several greens to assemble the leaves and I feel like it gives them more depth.  I adhered all of them on top of the gorgeous Lattice Flower Square Panel that I die cut in a light gray cardstock.

CIC405 Jen Carter

I wanted to also replicate the little white flowers in the cupcake inspiration photo so I die cut the daisies from the Floral Confetti die and then put a pink sequin in the middle.  That gorgeous brushed thank you is a brand new die, being released on Monday, May 1st and it is called Brush Script Thank You.  (And, hint, hint, there are a few other word dies in this same font being released too!).

Here is the gorgeous challenge color scheme.  You can use the photo for inspiration but you don't have to, as long as you use the provided color scheme. I hope you'll join us this week for the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #405!  Thanks for stopping by!

Enjoy the View!

Hello!  So, last week I showed you a card using Frantic Stamper's new Big Car die facing the front. Today, I want to show you how you can use the same die but make the car look like you're seeing the back of it.

Jen Carter Big Car Back Sunrise Sunset 2

I have to say that I really like how this card turned out.  And I really like playing with this die!  :)

I started by assembling my car using the Big Car die.  This die is so fun!

Jen Carter Big Car Back Sunrise Sunset Dimension 2

For the scene, I wanted to make it look like the car was looking out over the city.  I die cut the Cityscape die several times in vellum, light gray and a dark gray cardstock and then lined them up behind my window frame.  I then die cut the sunrays with the Sunburst Card Panel die and layered that behind the buildings.  I popped all of that up in front of the star patterned paper.

Here you can see the dimension a little bit better.

So that you can compare the front view & back view of the cars, here is the card I shared last week using the same Big Car die.

Jen Carter Big Car Front Sunshine 2

Seriously.  Fun die! :)

Thanks for visiting!  I hope you get to enjoy a great sunrise or sunset today!

Jen Carter Hootie Patootie bday 1 wm

For my card today I wanted to feature some of the newer Lil' Inker Designs products.  I started by die cutting the tag from the Silly Stitched Square die set.  I die cut the owl from the Hootie Patootie die set and then stamped it with the coordinating Hootie Patootie stamp set.  I colored the sweet owl in with copics.  The sentiment is also new and is from the Best Blooms stamp set. I love the mixture of fonts in that set!

The background was die cut with the fun Cover Up Die: Stitched Woodgrain die which is just perfect for using with the adorable owls!

Carpe Diem

I am so excited to share with you today a card that features a new die by Frantic Stamper that I had so much fun with!  I made several cards using this die set and will share the others at a later time.  The genius thing about this die is that you can create a car that faces the front OR a car that faces the rear!

So...let's get on to the card!

Jen Carter Big Car Front Sunshine 1

I obviously went with a front facing car.  And I used a lot of color in it!  This is my favorite card from this latest release, although my rear facing card that I'll share at a later date comes in at a close second.  I die cut all of the pieces in the various cardstock colors using the Big Car die and pieced them all together.

Tip:  You can use the tires of the car as seats too!

Jen Carter Big Car Front Sunshine Closeup

I love racing stripes on cars and so I wanted to incorporate them into the design as well.  I cut strips of white cardstock, placed them where I wanted them on the die and then die cut.  Then, I pieced them onto the car.  I realize my one strip is slightly off, but it's close! :)

Jen Carter Big Car Front Sunshine 2

I used several other dies to finish this card.  The outside pink frame was die cut with the Elementals #1 die set and is the negative piece left over after die cutting the largest frame.  I made sure to center the die in the middle of my card front when I die cut so that the frame would be even.  I used the Village Roadway die for the road.  The sun is from the Sunburst Card Panel which I tend to use a lot.  I cut the frame off and just used the sun portion for my card.  The "carpe diem" sign that is flying out of the car is from a new clear stamp set called You Did it!
My inspiration for this card was this cute little number!

Thank you for driving by today! :)  Have a great one!

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #403

Happy Easter!  Welcome to the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #403!  This week the challenge is to use a mythical theme on your card.  All of the details, including prize information, can be found on the Cupcakes Inspiration blog.  I hope you'll be able to play along!  This week our sponsor is The Greeting Farm.

CIC403 Jen Carter Unicorn Magical

I had so much fun putting this card together.  I created the yellow background by using Avery Elle's Burst die.  Such a cool die! I borrowed this from a friend but need to add it to my collection!  I used the Avery Elle Be a Unicorn stamp set and colored the rainbow & unicorn with copics and then stamped the sentiment on the circle.  I used some sequins from Pretty Pink Posh to finish it off.

The theme this week is "mythical".  You can choose to use the cupcake graphic for inspiration if you'd like but you don't have to, as long as your card or project fits the theme.

I hope you'll join us this week for the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #403!  Thanks for stopping by!

Graduation: You Did It!

This May I have two graduations in my immediate family.  My husband is graduating with his Masters from Calvary Bible College and my son is graduating from 8th Grade.  So I'm going to need a few graduation cards!

Jen Carter Mortar Fringe Tassle Graduation 2

For this card I used Frantic Stamper's Mortarboard die to create the graduation hat and the Fringe & Tassle Maker die to create the tassel and the black & orange background.  I love that the Fringe & Tassle Maker die has a dual purpose!  For the sentiment I also used a new clear stamp set called You Did It!

Jen Carter Mortar Fringe Tassle Graduation Inside

I also finished off the inside of this card using more of the fringe and another die called You Did It.  I made the tassel removable.

I put a video together, shown below, on how to assemble this card.

Thank you for stopping by today!

I have two more cards to share today.

Jen Carter Best Blooms You Best Acetate 1 wm

This first card is an acetate card.  I used striped acetate (from We R Memory Keepers) to create the card base.  I then die cut some flowers & leaves from the gorgeous new Best Blooms die set and then stamped the multi-layered flowers & leaves with the new Best Blooms stamp set.  I stamped the sentiment on the inside layer so that it would peek between the stripes.  It is also from the Best Blooms stamp set.

Here's a side view.

Jen Carter Wreath Roses Mom 1 wm

For this last card I used the new Wreath of Roses Stamp set and the coordinating Wreath of Roses die set.  I colored the wreath with copics and then used Gansai Tambi Starry Colors over the top of each of them to make them shimmer.  I die cut the banner from the Warm Welcome Die Set in vellum and then stamped the sentiment from the Wreath of Roses die set. I used the Mom Word Die across the wreath.  All of this was adhered to the fun Ombre Chevron Patterned Paper by Lil' Inker Designs.
