Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!  What a beautiful day to celebrate the birth of the Savior, Jesus Christ our Lord!  I felt it was appropriate to share a card today that focuses on the nativity!  The true reason for the season! (Details on card are at the end of this post.)

I'm going to leave you with one of my favorite Christmas songs.
Christmas Offering by Casting Crowns

Merry Christmas!
I hope each of you are able to bring your own Christmas Offering to the Lord, humble as it may be!

********
Instructions for the card:
For this card I started with the background and cut the stars using the Starfall Reverse Cut die from Frantic Stamper. I left the stars in the background because I wanted the gold star (Northern Star) to be the star that is noticed.

To help create the scene I cut some hills for the background using two of the Stitched Scene Builder Edgers dies I wanted the Nativity (Nativity Creche) to be the center focus so I die cut it out of a dark gray cardstock.  I added the lamb from that same die set in two softer shades of gray.

The Christmas script word (Script Merry Christmas) is easy to see yet doesn't distract from the baby in the manger so that our focus is where it should be.  Just as it should be in real life.

From Your Secret Santa...and Rudolph

Hello!  I figured that since Christmas is just days away, I had probably share this next project soon!  :)

Jen Carter Santa Rudolph Boxes Duo 1 wm

This is a duo I made using the Triangle Treat Holder die from Lil' Inker Designs and the coordinating Make a Santa die & stamp set bundle.  There are so many fun things you can make with this treat box!

Jen Carter Santa Box 1 wm

For my Santa, I cut out one of the boxes with red cardstock and the other one with a textured, almost leathery cardstock (from Hobby Lobby) that I thought looked like the texture of what could be Santa's red coat.  I cut out the beard, hair and mustache in white and then used the ultra cool Quilted Swirl Stitch Pattern Die to give his beard texture (thanks Chrissy for that idea!).  His belt and feet were cut from black glitter paper.

Here's a side view.

Jen Carter Santa Box Side Tag

For the tag I die cut one of the speech bubbles from the Speech Bubbles 2 die set and then stamped one of the sentiments from the Make a Santa stamp set. I tied some Gold Shimmer Twine from The Twinery through the holes and added a bell.

Jen Carter Santa Rudolph Box 2 wm

For Rudolph I cut the Triangle Treat Holder die in Kraft cardstock.  For the eye lashes I used the Hey Foxy stamps and then added googly eyes.  I cut the Santa Hat from the Make a Santa die bundle and then added a red sparkly nose and antlers with pipe cleaners.

And, since Christmas is almost here, I thought I'd show you a picture of a previous project I've made using the Triangle Treat Holder die for Easter.

Watercolored Wedding

Hello everyone!  Are you busily preparing for Christmas?  I can't believe how close we are to Christmas!  I have so many presents I need to wrap!

Today I have a break from Christmas cards and am sharing a wedding card instead.

Jen Carter Wedding Wishes Flower

I used a new die from Frantic Stamper called Scribble Roses to die cut the flower and then colored it with watercolor paints and an aqua pen.

The gorgeous sentiment was stamped & embossed with a new wedding stamp set called Wedding Wishes which I think is so pretty!  The sentiment is stamped on a label from the Elementals #7 Coved Labels die set.  It's perfect for using as a tag.

Thanks for stopping by!

Jen Carter Thanks so Much wm

For this card I used the new With Gratitude Word die to create the background.  I die cut it several times in white cardstock (with Stick it! on the back so that I could easily peel & stick the sentiments on to my card front) and than placed them on my card mat.

Jen Carter Thanks so Much Closeup

I die cut the new Boxed up Thank You Greeting Die with blue glitter paper and then backed it with vellum to soften up the white background even more.  I really like how you can still see the with gratitude words behind it but it doesn't distract from the main sentiment.  I finished the card off with a few of the Seasonal Star dies.

Jen Carter Lips Psyched wm

For my last card I used one of the sentiments from the new Keep it Sassy stamps as a springboard for the card.  I stamped the sentiment on patterned paper.

I pulled out the previously released Smooches stamps to stamp and emboss (with glitter) the largest lips stamp.  It works perfectly with this sentiment!

Jen Carter 29 Birthday Cactus wm

This card uses two new stamp sets that are a lot of fun.  The first and most noticeable is the new So Prickly stamp set.  There are so many ways to mix & match these cacti (and it would be great for masculine cards)!  There are even stamps to make faces, arms and even the most adorable mustache stamp!  For my card, I added one of the little flower stamps that are included.  I nested my images inside a window that I cut with the new Dual Dotted Circles dies.

That dotted green patterned paper is also new to Lil' Inker and is called the So Prickly Paper Pack.  It includes 12 single-sided papers and is such a fun and unique collection of papers.  I'm a sucker for paper packs! :)

Lil' Inker Designs Dec Release: Flowers or Butterflies?

Hello!  It's time for a new Lil' Inker Designs release! The new products are already available in the  Lil' Inker Designs store!  If you are following along in the blog hop you should have come from Lea's blog! There are three $15 gift certificates to the LID store up for grabs, so the more blogs you comment on, the better your chances are of winning!

There are a great line up of products for this release, so let's get started!

Jen Carter Gold Butterfly Sympathy wm

My favorite set from this release is the new Inky Flowers Stamp set.  When I first got this set it reminded me of butterflies so for this first card I wanted to use the flowers that way.  I embossed the images from the stamp set on watercolor paper that I had die cut with one of the new Dual Dotted Ovals die.  These dotted dies are so much fun!  I then water colored the butterflies.

Jen Carter Gold Butterfly Sympathy Closeup 2

To make the butterflies have a little dimension (and this was very hard to photograph), I used a knife to cut around one side of the wings on the largest butterfly and on the pink butterfly next to it.  Both of these butterflies pop off of the paper.  It looks really cool in real life, but like I said, it was very hard to capture in my photos.

Jen Carter Gold Butterfly Sympathy Side 2

The gold sentiment was cut with the new With Sympathy Word die.  The neat thing about this die is that the stamp set Inky Flowers has words that you can insert in the space between the "with" & "sympathy" so you can change your sentiment up if you'd like.

Jen Carter Ombre Tag Gratitude wm

For my 2nd card, I used the Inky Flowers set in the way it was intended, as flowers.  I stamped the cluster on one of the new Dotted Tags dies and then watercolored the images. I think that tag die set will be getting a lot of use!  I stamped the sentiment with ombre inks and love how that turned out!

This new cover plate die called Cover Up: Diamond Lace is my favorite yet!  I have been so anxious to use this die ever since we got it several months ago!  I especially love how it looks on the Dip Dyed Ombre Papers!

All of the Lil' Inker products that I've used (and more!) are available to purchase right now in the Lil' Inker Designs store!  Your next stop on the blog hop is over to the Lil' Inker Designs store to check out all of the new products!! Happy shopping!

P.S.  Don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win a gift certificate!!

Forever Begins Today

Hello everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!

For today's card I went with a wedding theme.  I thought it was time for a change of pace for today at least!  Frantic Stamper has just released their new December die collection and there are some great dies in this collection!  And...they are releasing two new clear stamp sets that I think you'll love (we'll get to those in a bit)!

Jen Carter Forever Gold Rose

Frantic Stamper has just released their new December die collection and there are some great dies in this collection!  I was especially excited about the new Scribble Roses set!  This set has two sizes of roses in it.  For this card I used the largest die and cut it twice, one with gold glitter paper and once with a soft orange.  I layered the gold on top but kept it slightly off center so that you could see the soft orange shadow.  I matted that on top of a shaped die cut with vellum (black & white cardstock underneath) that was cut with the new Stitched Petal Squares dies.

Now let's talk about that sentiment.  This comes from a new, trendy stamp set by Frantic Stamper called Wedding Wishes.  There are so many cute sentiments in this set and it pairs so well with this new rose die!  I stamped the sentiment in black and embossed it with sparkling clear embossing powder.  I love the shimmer it gives it!

I am entering this in the Color Throwdown Challenge #371.  I hope it is OK that I used a pale orange as my neutral in this card.

Thank you for visiting!  Be sure to check out the entire December die collection!
