I pulled out a couple sets from Clearly Whimsy Stamps because they are perfect for school cards.
First, if you're looking at the inspiration image (posted at the bottom of this post), you may be wondering why I chose these colors rather than the obvious black, white & red. Well, if you look down at the table you'll see a small tray of pencil rolls. I loved those colors and so that is what I went with. I also liked how there were different sizes of trays and shapes on the table & in the picture and that is what I drew inspiration from for the speech bubbles & arrows! Sometimes the obscure can be very inspiring! :)
I used the Clearly Whimsy stamp sets School Spirit & Say What to create my speech bubbles & sentiments. I stamped one of the arrows twice from the School Spirit set inside of the green bubble at the top and then placed the speech bubble die cuts from the coordinating Say What Speech Bubble die set over the top with dimensionals. I love how you can see the arrows peeking through to create even more visual interest!
I did a similar thing with the bottom speech bubble. This time I used a larger arrow from the School Spirit stamp set and then placed the die cut bubble on top. I also used a new border die, the Speech Bubble Border die, as a border on the side of the card to fit the theme. I let it hang slightly over the edge of the card for a fun look.
Here's the inspiration piece (remember the pencil rolls at the bottom right side, lol):
I'm suppose to share what card style I used too. I'm terrible at figuring that out though! Clean and Graphic? Clean and Layered? Not sure!
And another look at the finished card...
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed this card!
