Paper Sweeties Challenge Guest Designer

Jen Carter Paper Sweetiesn Flower Wreath Closeup 1.2

Hello!  This month I am a Guest Designer for the Paper Sweeties Inspiration Challenge #34 for August!  I am honored to be playing along with them this month!

Here is the inspiration photo and color combo that I worked with.  It was such a pretty one!

Jen Carter Paper Sweetiesn Flower Wreath 1.1

For my card, I used the Pretty Posies stamp set & the Pretty Posies die set for this card.  I really like the shapes of the flowers in this set.  They are so whimsical and fun!  To color them, I first stamped & embossed the outlines in white.  Then, I put each die cut directly down on my pigment ink pad and covered them fairly well with ink.  When I took them off, I used an aqua pen to move the wet ink around. The ink becomes a lot like watercolor paint.  I added other colors to my flowers by dipping the aqua brush directly onto the ink pad and then coloring on to my flowers.

After I finished coloring them, I assembled them into a wreath shape, popping some up with dimensionals and then adding in a few clear sequins and some pink twine.  The sentiment is a free one from the Paper Sweeties blog that you can download here

I hope you have a chance to play along this month with the Paper Sweeties #34 Challenge!  Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Ombre Thanks

I am back today with a card I made using products from the last few Lil' Inker Designs releases.

Jen Carter Ombre Quilted Flower Front 1.1 wm

Laura and I laughed about our cards because we both had similar ideas using the new Ombre Stripes Papers.  Neither one of us had seen the others card when we created these!  (By the way, do you have the Ombre Paper Pads yet? Oh my!! They are SO. FUN!!  I totally recommend them!)  Anyway, for this card I used several of the papers and cut them into strips.  Then I adhered them onto a white cardstock mat and attached it an an angle to my card base.

For my tag, I die cut one of the Anytime Tags 2 in vellum.  I love how you can see the stitching on the vellum and also how the vellum fits in so well with the softness of the ombre paper at the bottom.  I die cut the Quilted Flower Die out of black cardstock & also out of black foam for the dimension & stacked them on top of each other.  The "Thanks" sentiment is embossed with Zing! Aqua embossing powder and is from the Pineapple Panache stamp set.  I wrapped some gorgeous Garn & Mehr Emerald twine through the hole in the top of the tag & added some rainstones to the card to finish it off.

Enjoy the Sweeter Things in Life

Well, it's hard for me to type this, but this is my last. week. of. summer. break.  WHAT? HOW did the summer disappear so fast?  I just can't believe it!  Next week it is back to work!  Don't get me wrong, I love my job, but I really wish summer could have been a few weeks longer! :)

With that in mind, I made up a card that feels pretty summery to me.

I love the new Citrus Slices Dies by Frantic Stamper.  I knew I wanted to use them to make a colorful card.  I die cut each slice using two different colors of paper.  First, I die cut the slice with white textured cardstock and then I die cut each slice with the inside patterned paper. I also wanted the rind to show for each fruit slice, so I used a circle die to create the solid colored cardstock for each slice that I layered all of the other die cuts on top of (I cut the green circle in 1/2).

I attached all of the colorful slices on to a small card mat, stamped my sentiment, added a few bright sequins and then attached the entire piece to my card panel that I popped up with dimensionals.

Jen Carter Snailed It Hello 1.7 wm

This card & envelope uses another fun new grouping of products!  The card was super simple. I started with the brown wood paper and used the cool new Cover Up Die: Stitched Woodgrain on it.  It added such a neat texture and design to the wood printed paper!  I took a couple pieces of patterned paper and adhered them all together.

Jen Carter Snailed It Hello Closeup 1.3

I die cut the snail from the Snailed It Dies (even the NAME is cute!!) & then stamped the adorable snail from the coordinating Snailed It Stamp Set so that it looked like he was sliding down the hill.  In this photo you can also see the Cover Up Die: Stitched Woodgrain in closer detail.  Do you spy the heart in the center of the woodgrain? :)

Jen Carter Snailed It Envelope Inside 1.1

I'm not sure if you noticed the inside of my envelope on my first photo.  I thought this was a fun card to dress up the envelope and pull out the Stitched Envelope Liner Die!  It fits the Premium White Lil' Inker A2 envelopes perfectly!

I have to admit loving how this turned out!  What a fun surprise to open the envelope and find this on the inside!  And that stitching detail adds such a great touch!  I have people ask me who aren't stampers if I stitched those lines with my sewing machine!

And this is the other side of my envelope.  I thought it would be fun to dress it up a bit too! You can see quite a few of the stamps included in the Snailed It Stamp Set too!  Lots of fun possibilities!

Lil' Inker Designs Release Day 2

Hello again and welcome to Day 2 of the Lil' Inker Designs Release!  All of the products being shown today are currently available in the Lil' Inker Designs store!  If you are following along in the blog hop you should have come from Lisa's blog! There are three $15 gift certificates to the LID store up for grabs, so the more blogs you comment on, the better your chances are of winning!

Today I am starting with a card inspired by this pin linked here.  As soon as I saw it I knew exactly what I wanted to do!

Jen Carter Pineapple Hope 1.1 wm

I started by cutting the previously released Cover Up Die: Faceted with textured white paper.  I stamped & then embossed my sentiment from the new Pineapple Panache stamp set on vellum and then tucked the vellum around the backside of my card.

Jen Carter Pineapple Hope Closeup 1.1

I wanted to recreate the look of the pineapples in the picture I pinned so I die cut the pineapples with the Pineapple Panache die.  After stamping the tops & bottoms with the Pineapple Panache stamp set I took a black pen and made the doodle marks on them.  They look so cute all on their own, but the little marks just add add a little extra to replicate the pineapples in the picture.

Here's a picture of the pin that my card is based off of.

For this next card I used the same products I used for yesterday's post but I just couldn't wait to share it so here it is! :)

Jen Carter Navy Quilted Flowers Bday Side 1.2 wm

I started with navy cardstock and used the Cover Up Die: Dotted Scallops with it.  I put a piece of yellow cardstock behind it and it really made the card front pop!

Jen Carter Navy Quilted Flowers Bday Closeup 1.7

I used the Quilted Flowers dies again for the large yellow & pink flowers that were sponged with distress ink. The smaller flowers & the leaves & the sentiment are from another favorite previously released set, Awesome Blossom stamps & Awesome Blossom dies. I added in a few sequins to my flower bouquet as well.

There's plenty more inspiration to see using these sets today!  Your next stop on the hop is over to Maureen's blog!  To see ALL of the new release items, click here!

Lil' Inker Designs July Release Day 1 & Video!

Hello!  It's that time again!  Time for a new Lil' Inker Designs release! The new products are already available in the store!  If you are following along in the blog hop you should have come from Laura's blog! There are three $15 gift certificates to the LID store up for grabs, so the more blogs you comment on, the better your chances are of winning!

I have two cards and a video to share with you today using my favorite product from the new release:  Quilted Flower Die Set!

Jen Carter Quilted Flowers Greetings 1.4 wm

To say that I had a lot of fun using the Quilted Flower dies would be an understatement!  These dies are SO. MUCH. FUN.  Really!  And they are beautiful too! The sentiment, stamped on a piece die cut with the Stitched Mats: Rounded Rectangles, is embossed in white & is from a beautiful new sentiment set called Greetings & Salutations.  Lots of beautiful choices of sentiments in this set and such a nice size too.  Did you notice the white background piece?  That also features a new die called Cover Up Die: Dotted Scallops.  (For a tip on how to easily get out all of the little holes in the cardstock, watch my video here.)

Jen Carter Quilted Flowers Greetings Closeup

To make the Quilted Flowers (although in this card I didn't use the stitches that make it look quilted) I sponged distress ink onto watercolor paper (I love the texture that gives!) and then cut the flowers out.  The die set comes with three dies: the base, the swirly outline/insert die & a stitched outline die which is fabulous (more on that later).  For these flowers I chose to use the base die and layer the outline die on top of it.  I also inserted a little green piece for the leaf as well.  The leaves and small flowers that I used as filler are from a previously released set called Awesome Blossom stamps & Awesome Blossom Dies.

There are LOTS of different ways you can use this new Quilted Flower Die Set!  I made a video below that shows 10 Ways to Use the Quilted Flowers Die.

You definitely get your dollars worth with these new versatile Quilted Flowers Dies!  And, there are really more than 10 ways to use the dies since almost each idea has several options on using the dies with or without the stitching (which is GORGEOUS by the way!!).

Jen Carter Quilted Warmest Wishes 1.1 wm

Here's the second card that I showed in the video.  For this card I again used the Cover Up Die: Dotted Scallops for the background.  This time I popped the black piece up with dimensionals against a white piece of cardstock.  Don't you just love how the white peeks through the holes for even more visual interest and texture!

I used the inside swirl pieces that were left over from when I made the first card I shared with you above.  Then, I sponged a Pinking Edge Sentiment Flag Die with distress ink and stamped a sentiment from the new Greetings & Salutations stamp set.  I added in some rain stones to finish the card off.

A Monster of a Good Time

Welcome to my blog today!  My 7 year old daughter has been begging me to get out these new Monster Mash Up stamps & dies from Frantic Stamper and I finally had a chance to indulge her!  I'll share my card first and you'll see her card at the end of this post! :)

Jen Carter Stacked Monster 1.1

I first started by coloring the little monsters in the set.  I'm not the best colorer but these are nice and small and I enjoyed coloring them!  I used copic markers and then used my copic blender to add polka dots & stripes to some of the monsters.  I also added googly eyes to most of them!  That cute banner in the corner is also included in the Monster Mash stamp set & has a coordinating die as well.

Jen Carter Stacked Monster Closeup 1.1

To create this scene I first created my frame using the Elementals #1 die set. I then pulled out some dies from the village die sets.  They were perfectly sized for using with these monsters!  I cut the road with the Village Roadway die, and the sun & clouds came from the Village Sky set.

Now would you like to see my daughter's card? :)

Sadie's Monster Card

She said that the monsters are holding cards.  She is so adorable!  It makes me happy that she likes to create cards with me!

I'm entering this in the Paper Players Challenge to use frames.

I am also entering this in the Addicted to Stamps & More Challenge Anything Goes.

This card was originally based on the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #132 but as I arranged things and then skewed things a little it is pretty far from the actual sketch so I'm not going to enter it after all.

Thank you for visiting! Hope you have a great day!
