Passion for Papertrey: Recipe Challenge

Hey everyone! I am here with my last post as the Featured Stamper on A Passion for Papertrey's blog.  I have had SO MUCH fun playing along this month!! Thank you so much Kate, Aimes & Caryn for allowing me to be a part of your wonderful blog!

This week's challenge is a recipe challenge.  We were to use 3 colors of our choice, 2 buttons & 1 ribbon.  The colors I chose were Pure Poppy, Sweet Blush & Spring Moss (and I used Kraft as a neutral...I'm hoping that that was still within the rules!!).

I ordered a few of the fruit stamps for Papertrey's recent release and I am in LOVE!! I haven't had a lot of time to stamp lately, but when I do, I find myself reaching for these sweet little sets!

I really like being able to cut these cute little fruit images out of felt, fabric or paper!  I kept the focus of this card very CAS.  The words from the Tag It's #1 set (LOVE that font so much!!) fit perfectly in the space of the frame!

Thank you for stopping by!! Be sure to check out the challenge on "A Passion for Papertrey's Blog"!

Thanks again to Kate, Aimes and Caryn for allowing me to play along!! It's been so much fun!!

Home Made Puffies

Have you seen one of the new trends...puffies?  KI Memories came out with a new felt line of embellishments that are "puffed", which I translate "stuffed", lol!  Here is a link to what I am referring to.  See, how cute they are!?

The thing is...if you are a PTI fan, you probably have felt and dies in your stamp arsenal, right? :)  Well, with those tools paired with a sewing machine or a needle and thread you can create your very own, custom-made puffies (for lots less too!).  Want to see an example?

I took the new Fruit Fusion watermelon die and cut the bottom piece with green felt and the top piece with Raspberry Fizz felt.  Then, I sewed the pieces about 3/4 of the way together, left the needle in the felt (but released the foot so I had some give) and took some quilt batting and used the pointed end of a paint brush to carefully poke it into the watermelon.  Once it was completely in and "puffed" up, I continued to sew the watermelon closed.

After I had them sewn together, I added some black rhinestones to mimic watermelon seeds.  So easy!  Just think of how many other dies you could do this with!  Flowers, butterflies, clouds, balloons, etc...  Get the picture? :)  You could even sew a pattern on the watermelon or other fruit!

Here are a few other details on the card:

I used the Cane Impression Plate to give the clouds dimension and texture and then popped it up with pop dots.

After I stamped the polka dotted "clouds" I used a clear Spica Glitter Pen to add some subtle glitter to each dot.  Just a fun little extra.

I hope that this idea inspires you!! I'd LOVE to see your "puffies" if you make some!  You can send me an email or leave me a comment with a link to your post so I can see what you come up with!  I think it could be addicting!! :)  I have another card to share with you using this same idea soon!  Hopefully it will post early next week!

I hope your day is full of blessings!  Thank you for stopping by!

May 2011 Blog Hop

Welcome to the May Papertrey Ink blog hop!  I have 2 cards to share with you today but first, the challenge.

May is the month when many flowers finally go into full bloom after a long winter's sleep. For the blog hop this month we want to see your favorite take on flowers.

What a fun challenge!!

Up first is a clean & simple card.

Ahhh...summer flowers! I love them and I couldn't resist looking for fabric in my stash with lots of color in it for this flower!  (I used the small yo-yo maker to make this flower and attached it with a large glue dot.)

I used one of the grass clumps from the new PTI anniversary set and then added Raspberry Fizz rhinestones for little accent flowers.  I am soooo loving this Cane Impression Plate! I wasn't sure if I needed it at first but now I can't quit using it on every card I am making!  The impression is so gorgeous!!  And, of course, that Lemondrop twine from The Twinery adds a great contrast to the Hawaiian Shores paper!

I am also entering this into the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge this week to use bling!

The 2nd card I have to share with you today is totally different and very bold!

Ready?

How about a black & white polka dotted fence?  It is cut out of fabric so in real life it has an extra-fun texture!  The flower is also die cut out of fabric...I'm in a fabric mood lately!  (Be watching because I have something extra fun to share with you in the next few days using fabric & felt!!  I can't wait!!)

In order to make the fabric stiff enough to die cut, I used Pellon Craft Fuse Iron-On Backing which adds stability and strength (I got that right off the package, lol!!) to your fabric.  It was simple, simple to do.  I picked up a 1/4 of a yard in the fabric section of Hobby Lobby.  Then, I cut a small square of fabric and backing.  Then, you just iron them together.  That's it!  Very simple!  It makes the fabric stiff enough to die cut (although I went over the die in my machine 3 times to make sure it cut through all of the material.  I probably should have thought to use my metal shim...thanks Kristin!!...If you have a shim, you might give that a try to add a little extra pressure to get a good cut.

Be sure to visit the others in the PTI Blog Hop!  Entries can be added until 10 PM CST on Nichole's blog!

Thank you so much for visiting! I can't wait to check out the rest of the participants!!

Botanical Silhouettes

I received my free & exclusive Papertrey Ink Anniversary set and it is a BEAUTY!! (I have an extra set so if you are interested, let me know!  It is $25 and that includes shipping to you with US & Canada addresses...international shipping can be negotiated.)

I whipped up a super quick & easy card using this new set and wanted to share!

This is SOOOO my kind of set!! No coloring! YEA!!  Two step stamping! YEA!!  Worlds and worlds of possibilities! YEA!!  Can you tell I love it!

I kept this card super simple because the main image doesn't need much!

I added some glitter with a Copic Spica Clear Glitter Pen and I love the subtle shimmer that it gave each flower!  Those rhinestones match the color of the flower stems but they look sort of funky in the photo.

I also needed a couple of graduation cards, both for college graduates. I decided to use this same layout and make non-traditional graduation cards.

LOVE that Cane Print Impression Plate!

I'm sending the first card over to the CAS-ual Fridays challenge to use bling.

Thanks for visiting! Hope your weekend is a great one!

The Blessings of Wildflowers

**Did you see the new stamp sets I have for sale?  Check out the post below this one or the page tab under my blog header that says "Stamps for Sale".**

I love seeing wildflowers growing in the fields & ditches as we are driving down the road.  They just really bless me.  We even have some variety of wildflowers back by our garage and they are so pretty.  This card that I have to share today uses wildflowers for my inspiration (and yes, again, I used the "With Sympathy" set.  Hope you aren't tired of it yet!)

I have wanted a grass image for a long time and tonight as I was looking through my sets, I had to hit my forehead with a big "DUH" when I realized that the "With Sympathy" set had a great grass image (for the cat tails).  I stamped the grass across the frame at a tall height and then again at a shorter height to give it depth and make it full.  Then I added the flowers (from "With Sympathy" & "Beautiful Blooms II").

The butterfly was stamped with gingham but it is hard to see in the photo.

Thanks for coming by today!! I hope you have a beautiful day and a weekend full of blessings!
