A Ladybug Dot-to-Dot Delight

The Ladybug wears no disguises.
She is just what she advertises.
A speckled spectacle of spring,
A fashion statement on the wing....
A miniature orange (red) kite.
A tiny dot-to-dot delight.
~J. Patrick Lewis, "The Little Buggers"

Our Ladies' Ministry group at church sponsored an event at church on Sunday and we asked ladies from the church to decorate the tables.  This is always such a fun event to see how everyone decorates the tables differently!  I love to do this and knew right away what I wanted my theme to be...ladybugs!  I had the idea in my head and then went shopping for supplies.  Originally my color scheme was going to be pink, red & light green, but then I found these mints and I based my whole table around these colors instead:

I found these at a party store and immediately went to the paper section to pick out the tablecloth, the plates, napkins, etc.  Everything matched perfectly!  And, of course you know how much I LOVE polka dots, and I knew that Hobby Lobby had just the perfect paper for place mats!

In the plan in my head, I wanted to find the small glass milk bottles to use as glasses but I was unsuccessful at finding any at a decent price, so I instead bought jam canning jars from Walmart and I love the way they looked!  I bought some red & white striped paper straws for each glass too (from an internet store)...FUN!!

Here is what each individual place setting looked like.  And, as you can see, I also made each guest a little notebook as a favor.  I will tell you more about those tomorrow (the design was  inspired by another PTI fan!!).

Here you can see the centerpiece.  I took a red pail and put grass and different "flowers" in it.  I took black & white polka dotted saddle stitch ribbon and gathered it at the top of the pail and then hot glued some glittery lady bugs to it.  It's hard to see in the picture, but the pail is sitting on a large felt butterfly with red polka dots on the wings!

I did find several milk bottles (just not enough for each lady) so I decided to incorporate those into the table decorations too.  I filled each of them with green Styrofoam balls and then placed some grass and berries inside to keep with the theme of the centerpiece.  I then used some of my twine from The Twinery and a yo-yo on the front of each bottle.  So fun!

Probably my favorite decoration on the table were these cute grass clumps!  I found these on clearance at Alco for...$1.16!! They were regularly $8!  The clumps of grass are in a brown container that is a little chipped and I wanted to hide that part.  I bought this awesome red burlap at Hobby Lobby, wrapped it around the container and then used a rubber band to hold it in place.  I cut some polka dotted fabric in strips and wrapped it around the burlap and tied a bow.  I just loved how these turned out!   I made the little ladybugs (from PTI's Little Lady stamp set) on the lacey circles and attached them to a stick to set inside the grass clumps too.

Here's another view of the table.  I had SO MUCH FUN putting all these decorations together!

Thank you so much for letting me share this with you!  I'll be back, hopefully tomorrow, to share more about the little notebooks!  Have a great day!
