Feel Better

Sometimes inspiration hits in the strangest places... Take for instance the other night. I was watching "The Biggest Loser" and saw Allison's (the host of the show) "Summer Sunrise" vest with "Plum Pudding" and "Raspberry Fizz" scarf and thought, "Wow! That certainly packs a punch!  What a pretty color combination."  Isn't it funny how we (I) even tend to think in PTI colors!  :)  Anyway, I went to my table right away and laid out those 3 colors of cardstock to work with the next time I sat down.

Also on my table was the sketch for the "Wee Memories" Get Sketchy Scrappy Saturday Challenge, so I combined my inspiration colors with the sketch!

When I first started working with the colors, I wasn't sure how I would make them work, but in small doses, I think they worked very well together!

To make the rose, I cut 3 roses (one of each in the 3 colors) and then cut them apart at different places.  I started with the Raspberry Fizz color since it would be on the outside.  I cut off about 4 inches of the rose (from the inside of the rose), rolled it very loosely since it would be the layer on the outside and then used a large glue dot to secure it down.  I made sure that there was room on the inside of the rose to add two more layers.   I then took the middle section of the Plum Pudding rose and rolled it a little tighter than the previous layer.  I used my glue gun to add some glue to the inside of the Raspberry Fizz rose and tucked the Plum Pudding rose inside, again making sure there would be room for the final layer.  I cut off another 4 inches or so of the outside of the Summer Sunrise rose and then wrapped it very tightly, added some more hot glue to the inside of my rose and pushed the SS layer down into it.  Then, I topped it off with a silver pearl.  (Hope that all made sense!)

Here is the Wee Memories sketch I was working from:

To make the ribbon, I pulled on the thread on the top and bottom of the saddle stitch ribbon and then gathered it and adhered it under the popped up Summer Sunrise panel.

This card is proof that inspiration can be found anywhere, even on a weight loss show!

Thanks for visiting!! I was going to post this tomorrow, but the challenge is ending tonight so I'll go ahead and post it tonight.  Have a good evening everyone!!

Wowzers, Jen! This is totally fabulous! Summer Sunrise alone scares me, but you totally rocked these colors! I love that skinny strip of yellow at the top and your gorgeous rose.
