Have a Fabulous Day

I haven't had any time to craft this week.  So sad about that!  So, I thought I'd share this card that I made a few months ago but never posted.  The flower silhouettes are from an American Crafts stamp set called "Sentiments Large".  It has some pretty fun images in it.  The sentiment, butterfly & cardstock is of course from PTI!

Thanks for stopping by!  Hey, speaking of stopping by, anyone want to stop by and help me with getting stuff ready for my garage sale?  LOL!!  Didn't think so!!  Have a fabulous day!!  :)

Tissue Paper Fun! PTI Blog Hop

Welcome to the April Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!  This month we're focusing on tissue paper which has become one of the hottest trends in the paper crafting  industry.  Our challenge was to somehow incorporate tissue paper into our projects.

Here's my first card (stay tuned for more cards using tissue paper in the next few days).  I used a scallop border die to cut the tissue scallops in white, aqua and polka dot.  There are three layers of tissue in each column.  It makes such a delicate border!

I added aqua & crystal rhinestones, as well as aqua pearls to the dots on the Round & Round stamp.  It sparkles so much in real life!

I have always thought that the Fillable Frames 3 die reminded me of clouds, so that is what I tried to do here.

I cut several layers of the polka dotted tissue paper, stamped the frame image on to it, crumpled them slightly and staggered them to make them look fluffy.

The trail of  "smoke" from the airplane is from the bee stamp in "Baby Button Bits".  I thought it was perfect for the airplane.  I cut the hills from Green Boutique patterned paper using 2 different sizes of circle paper punches.

Ok, last card!  This one has tissue paper flowers, tissue paper mat & a tissue paper butterfly.

I folded up tissue paper and made a 3D look for the flower centers. Then, I also stamped leaves on white tissue paper and cut them out. I then added a butterfly that has a whole stack of tissue paper layers.

Thank you SO much for stopping by my blog today! I'd LOVE to hear your comments and thoughts!

Be sure to check out the rest of the blog hop participants. Blog posts can be added until 11:00 PM Central Time tonight so be sure to check this thread  on the Papertrey Ink website for an updated list (you might have to be logged in to the PTI forum to see the list)!

Papertrey Paper Dolls Challenge #1

**This is my second post for the day.  Please scroll down to see a post using a couple of PTI's newest stamp sets!**

The new PTI blog group that I joined, Papertrey Paper Dolls, is having our first challenge this week!  It is a sketch by my friend Laurie and it is a fun one!  If you would like to play along, be sure to link your card to the blog post!  We'd love to see what you create!

Here's the sketch (that I turned on it's side):

Here's what I did with the sketch:

This is from the new PTI Anniversary Set called "Round & Round".  It's so cute...and it was free so that makes it even better!!  Isn't that woodgrain background so cool! I just love it!  And, that "Dotty Biscotti" paper?  Oh yum!!

I cut the bird with my cricut on patterned paper.  I know, kind of lazy since it is a tiny bird, but I HATE to cut things out!

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies (all PTI unless noted)
Stamps: Round & Round
Paper:  Kraft, Rustic White, Raspberry Fizz, Dotty Biscotti
Ink: Palette Landscape & Noir
Other:  PTI Buttons, Tan Scrapper's Floss, Pop Dots, PTI Woodgrain Impressions Plate, circle punch, cricut

College Bound

Yea!! My new Papertrey Ink package came in the mail today!  I only had a little time to play since I was gone most of the day but I HAD to ink up a few sets!  This card features "Enjoy the Ride" and "A Little Argyle".  How fun are these stamp sets!!

Here you can see the details a little better.  I used crystal rhinestones for the headlights...love that touch.  I also tied my bow only half way again.  I really like doing that to change things up a bit and be a little less traditional.

I used 3 of the argyle stamps on Rustic White cardstock to make this background strip.  I started with the black lined image, then added the orange diamonds, followed by the dashed lines in Hibiscus Burst.  My husband said that this was an "interesting" color combo but I love it! :)

Hope you enjoyed the card today!  Have a great day and thank you for stopping by!

Supplies (all PTI unless noted)
Stamps: Enjoy the Ride, A Little Argyle
Paper: Rustic White, Orange Zest
Ink: Hibiscus Burst, Tea Dye Duo, Palette Noir & Orangerie
Other: Crystal Rhinestones, Pop Dots, Ribbon

Patience?

Patience?  What is that exactly? :)  I am waiting not-so-patiently for my latest PTI order and in the meantime I'm seeing all these fun posts from people who already HAVE their new PTI stamps!! I am so jealous! :)  So, I decided to play with a little argyle, even if it isn't all PTI.

The argyle embossing folder is by Cuttlebug. It is a pretty fun one and I think it'll work great with the new PTI argyle set.  I also used an old TAC stamp set on the black strip but it is sooo hard to see in this picture!  It has a little diamond strip in it that goes well with the argyle and I stamped it in Champagne Versamark ink. The name of that set is "Distressed Stripes" and it is on my for sale page here in cas you're interested in taking a peek (there's lots of other sets for sale too).

Please Mr. Postman, bring me my new stamps today! Please???  (Anyone else singing this "song" today???)  LOL!!

Thank you, as always, for stopping by!  Your comments mean a lot to me!  I appreciate each and every one of you!  Have a great day!

Stamps:  Signature Greeting, Butterfly Dreams, TAC Distressed Designs
Paper: Pure Poppy, Black, White

Lift-the-Flap

Don't you just love reading lift-the-flap books?  It's always so much fun to find the hidden surprise behind the flap!  It doesn't matter how many times you open that flap, it is still fun!

I was playing around with some scraps and "accidently" discovered a fun idea on my table!  A lift-the-flap card!  Take a look!

This is a stamp set that I think might be retired now from "The Angel Company".  I thought that the whale looked great with the paper since the paper had a little bit of an oceany feel to it.

You probably guessed from my teaser above that that flap was going to open right?  But, what a fun surprise to have an extra flap to open!  I am just thrilled with this idea and the possibilities it holds!

And yep, the card still opens.  I know, the inside is still boring except for that patterned paper, but I didn't have a good sentiment for the inside yet...still working on that one. :)

Hope you enjoyed another trip down memory lane as we reminisce once again on childhood memories.  Thanks again for stopping by!

Compose a Card Challenge #9

**This is my second post for the day.  Please scroll down to see a card I made using PTI's Green Thumb stamp set!  Thanks!!**

I LOVE this week's Compose a Card Challenge that Becky issued!  So, I decided to play along!  She said that we could use any colors that we wanted and so I chose some of my favorite patterned paper and started cutting.

The card base is 5 x 5.  It's been a while since I've made a square card and it sure is fun to work with!  The square punches are suppose to be 1 1/4" and mine are just a tad larger than that (that was what size of punch I had and it is so much easier than cutting each square out).

I also pulled out my sewing machine and made a spot for it in my crafting area.  I love to use it but since it's been in the storage closet, I seldom pull it out.  Well, now it is easily accessible and I can use it whenever I'd like.  I love how stitching looks on cards!  From this angle, you can also see the dimension.  I raised up the base, the ivory label and the umbrella all with 1/16" pop dots so each layer isn't raised very much to add a lot of bulk.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to play along with another challenge sometime soon.    It was a lot of fun!

Thank you for stopping by!  I hope you have a very blessed day!

Simple Joys

Do you remember those days as a child where you would run into the yard full of dandelions, pull them and blow to your heart's content and watch as the little pieces flew through the air?  Me too!  My friend Amy, really likes dandelion images, and I can't blame her as I really like them myself.  Recently when I made a card using PTI's Green Thumb set she asked me why I didn't tell her that there was a dandelion image in that set.  And, to be honest, it hadn't even occurred to me as I had bought the set prior to the dandelion coversations.

I decided tonight to make a quick card to put me in a better mood (yes, one of THOSE days!) and so I pulled out the dandelion image.

This is a gate-fold card so it opens from the middle.

I hope this brings back wonderful childhood memories (or even recent memories you've shared with your kids as they've blown their dandelions into the wind)!  Thank you for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Masculine Birthday

The theme this month for the PTI release was focused on masculine elements.  It is hard to make cards for men!  In my last post, you saw that I challenged myself to use patterned papers that I had on hand (my husband will NOT stop teasing me about my "paper hoarder" comment, but before that I didn't even know he read my blog...kind of a nice surprise!  Love you Dwight!) :)  Well, I sat down today with some "masculine" colored papers and decided to see what would happen with the stamps that I had on hand already.

As you can see, I got out my sewing machine--more on that later.  I wanted to create a "whimsical" look with the stitching to add to the "flow" of the dots in the patterned paper (plus, then you can't see how I can't sew a straight line!).  Isn't that paper cool?  I was lucky enough to win that several months back.  It is from Cosmo Cricket.  This is the first time I've used it and I LOVE it!

Stitching on cards is a great way to add texture without adding bulk!  Of course, I did have to add a little bulk to this card, LOL!!  The buttons and the popped up frame add just a little dimension while still keeping the card simple.

I inked up the "Dot Spot" stamp with PTI's Spring Rain ink and then dabbed just a little bit of Palette Reflection Blue on top of it to add some depth.

Also, you might have noticed that I have a new blinkie in my sidebar.  I am now in a PTI blog group!  I am really excited about this!  We'll challenge and motivate each other and support each other as well.  You may hear me referring to them now and this is what I am talking about when you hear "Papertrey Paper Dolls"!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you enjoy your weekend!

Congratulations!

I love patterned paper.  When I go to the scrapbook stores, I cannot resist it!  However, I also hoard it!  I don't want to cut into THAT piece because what if I need it for another project?  Ever been there?  Now that I am not scrapbooking as often I don't go through my patterned papers as fast either.  A few weeks ago, I came upon a beautiful piece of paper at a local store that I bought...on sale too!  I decided it was time to use it!

I am very pleased with how the paper looks on this card.  Isn't it pretty (the large piece)?  I am not very good at combining patterned papers either, so I am working on that as well.   If I could change anything about this card it would be to add a little white around the handle.  That was a complete oversight.  Oh well.

I feel liberated!  I actually cut into my paper and enjoyed doing it!  And, I have quite a large piece left for several other projects, so it's not all wasted!  So, maybe this is a congratulations card to myself, LOL!! :)

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog!  I appreciate all of you!  I hope you have a very good day!

Wishing You Sunshine

I just love the spring sunshine!  We've had such beautiful days here lately.  Just the perfect temperature...not too cold, not too hot, just enjoyable!  I love letting the kids play outside!

Today's card is all about sunshine!  It is clean and simple which I enjoy.

LOVE that background!  It was made using PTI's new Plaid Impression Plate.  It is such a subtle way to add texture to the cardstock.

I "bowed" the sentiment strip just slightly to match the shape of an umbrella...just a fun little touch.  I used 1/16" pop dots on the main white piece, then used 1/8" pop dots on the edges of the sentiment strip and another 1/8" pop dot in the middle of the strip to allow it to curve just slightly and give it dimension.

Hopefully it will cheer someone up when they need a little bit of encouragement!

Thanks for taking the time to stop by!
